Just got home from a very entertaining Ryman league final ending 3-2 to concord. Dulwich had a man sent off in extra time which can only be a bonus along with the fact they had to play an extra 30 mins. They did however look extremely good, as they did Saturday against Faversham. In both games they did fade away early second half though only being failed to be penalised for it. The most noticeable thing in both games though was Ellis green. Both games he played very well, scoring 3 goals from outside the box between the 2 games. Is he really the player who played for us last season? Was it our choice to release him or were these his wishes? IMO he's the missing link for us this season. We've not had a regular right winger all season, and certainly not a goal scoring one. As was proved when we played with no right mid field at all easter Monday.

And from what 2 dulwich fans were saying behind me one of their subs they bought in was recovering from a second knee operation and this was only his 3rd game. Sounds like they're of the opinion they're very short on players

Someone can correct me if I wrong.
As far as I am aware Green left saying he wanted a break from football. He signed for Dull itch a week or so later for twice the money he was on.

Ellis Green was a bit like Nanni for Man Utd, he has his good games yes but the bad games would by far out weigh the good ones. Also he never seemed to have a full good game, well for us anyway.

I cant remember Ellis having a good game for us after September/October time. Clearly a talented player he just didn't turn up for the rest of the season. I think it was Heathside who announced Ellis had effectively retired after we couldnt agree terms with him...and as JT says, he signed for Dulwich soon after.

Not sure on name but was no.2 and played left back for a second yellow Luke Hickie was the player sent off. Actually played right back for most of the match but moved to the left near the end after substitutions had been made. A pretty stupid sending off: two needless yellow cards in extra time, so now he'll be suspended for our penultimate league match against Gatwick, and almost certainly the final one against Burgess Hill as it's his second red card of the season. I wouldn't say he's a key player as such, but with other players taking knocks and looking a bit fatigued in some recent games he's been looking strong and playing well, so bad news for the Hamlet. As for Ellis Green, I believe our total wage bill is around £1,500 pw, so whilst he's probably one of our higher earners I'd be amazed if we're paying him twice what Stones offered, unless you offered him below what most of your other players get, which would almost amount to constructive dismissal considering he's played regularly at Premier Division and Conference South level for most of the past seven seasons or so. Our management team of Gavin Rose & Junior Kadi were Hamlet youth team managers when Ellis was in our youth team almost a decade ago, so he's obviously known them since he was a teenager, and presumably is local to the Dulwich area. Regardless of his reasons for leaving Maidstone / joining Dulwich, a player who slots effectively into one team and plays a vital part in winning games doesn't necessarily do the same in a different team with different management and teammates. You saw the best of Ellis last night; like most tricky wingers of his type he can blow hot and cold, and he's played the whole season for us on the left wing so an earlier comment that you've been lacking a right winger this season doesn't necessarily mean he'd have been your best solution anyway.

Always good to have other teams fans coming onto this forum and putting their point across.
I for one wanted Dulwich to win because they were representing our league and the strength of the teams in Ryman South. And by the sounds of it Dulwich gave a great account of themselves, remember we have also shown we can hold our own in the league above as we have beaten the runaway leaders.
It is a shame for both us and Dulwich that Ryman South is blessed with 2 such strong teams and whoever does win this title I'm sure the fans of either side wouldn't begrudge the team finishing second being promoted via the playoffs.
With regard to Ellis Green, he's a good player, no doubt about it, and we shouldn't really be on his back for what he did and didn't do for us. The fact is he has an affiliation to DH (as Pink Panther points out) and so he is always going to have a degree of loyalty towards them. We are in no position to comment as we have an ex premier league player who is playing for us (for nothing) because he knows Jay from when he was younger. (Stubbs, Watt....all also local lads)
I wonder what our wage bill is, would be interested to know.

I don't think there's any doubting Ellis is a very good player! And the 3-400 hundred of you that can remember back to mar2011 when fordy brought Ellis in,in the 10/11 odd matches we had I remember him easily being mom or the stand out player in 60/70% of the games and that in the premier! Unfortunately we were 1/2 games short of staying up but without him in that side we wouldn't of even been that close! He was direct took fullbacks on beating them a lot and also scored goals! Ok yes he was too inconsistent last season! And I do believe he wanted a club nearer closer to London! But from what I've seen he's still a fantastic player can score goals like the two last night and would easily on the evidence get in the Maidstone side playing wide right!

with the right-back getting sent-off, several injuries and a lose even if its only a cup game they looked down when they came off at the end.
