Man of the match for me today, a player I've often been critical of in the past, Danny Lye was superb. Also was excellent against Sittingbourne until the ref saw fit to curtail his involvement. Its a shame it really is, he doesn't always get the praise he deserves, he may not be the most skilful but he gives 100% and to be honest thats what i like about him

My main criticism of him was that he gives away too many stupid free kicks, but to be fair, the last couple of games he seems to have cut them out, which is why he was my MOM today, and would have been on Saturday had he been given half a chance.

Stubbs was the best player on the park today. Harley also showed some classy touches. King was dire apart from his goal but service wasn't the best today. Not sure playing without a right midfielder did us any good at all, incredibly unbalanced. Also we looked very shakey at the back and I am not convinced by Sobers at all. I thought Lye was poor to be honest and I prefer him at the back rather than tripping over the ball in the middle.

Lye is an awful player who should never be on the books of any side at this level. Especially when you think we released Davisson and kept lye instead. Harley wasn't in the game today until he got put back to left back and that's his best position. God knows why we had nothing on the right. Draycott was surely the best option there? Stubbs is too slow and hopefully tommy oz is back ASAP as I really don't rate Stubbs. Kingy I'm unsure of. Lovely footballer but lacks a killer instinct maybe? With tonbrudge angels loitering so close to relegation could we not convince fran to join us and give us a cutting edge. When did we last score 3 in a game

Different players do different jobs for the side. You can't have a team, for example, of 11 Ben Davissons.

Danny Lye is in the side to do a job. One which he does extremely well. Some people knock Tim O but he is one of the best players in the squad. Again there to do a job.
I think both of them read the game well which is why they don't seem to run around like headless chickens all the time.

Agreed jt, but defensive midfield has long been the least glamourous position in football.
As for the others mentioned, well Stubbs is a midfielder, not a right back, and considering that I don't think he's done too badly. I'm not sure that Draycott would have been the best option on the right - playing three strikers would have been my choice, I think, although there's also Woolery who Jay seems reluctant to play. As for King, I think he's a great player but the service today wasn't good and I'm afraid that I don't think Ade had a good game, although I still think he's a good player.

Dr Dray was used on the right several times earlier in the season an it really didn't work at all. Perhaps people have forgotten this. Woolery is the obvious choice out there but there does seem a reluctance to play him. Maybe it was because he can be a bit lightweight and a team like Ramsgate isn't his sort of game.

Draycott down the right is a massive no-no.
"Didn't really work out"...good choice of phrase!

Whereas a team of Danny Lyes could be fun! ;D He did ok yesterday, but I think he starts from such a low level that when he's just poor we think he does well It was a good job we suffered an injury to Timmy O on Tues against Dulwich and he had to go into the back four because he didn't get close to any of their players in midfield! Yes he 'does a job' but Timmy O gives us more in that 'job' and we should expect more from a player in a squad that challenges for a title But.......just my opinion!

Agreed, I seem to remember a certain Malcolm Stewart attracting similar criticism many moons ago, but he has a mantlepiece full of winners medals! Go figure, as they say across the pond

Game of opinions, and I'm not gonna change mine. Lyesy was terrific yesterday and on saturday while he was still on the pitch.

You're not comparing Danny Lye with Malcolm Stewart are you Moley? I have no problem with the concept of a holding midfielder, just think they should do a bit more than kick people!
