"The key part of the statement is "given the ground" doesn't necessarily mean the Gallagher!"
My thoughts exactly. Were we to climb the leagues and reach the higher echolones of the pyramid structure, we will quickly out grow the Gallagher, and it will become either our training ground or sold to the council.
I strongly believe the fan base is here to fill whatever the board chose to build in the coming years.Let`s not forget away fans and segregation will have to play a part at some stage.Yes some years down the line, but football is here to stay.
In saying all that....Where`s the Scoreboard going to go ?

I usually stand near the steps leading up to the Main Stand and on most match days there are people hoping to be able to transfer to a seat only to be told that they have all been sold. Generally these are supporters with family/children etc. Lack of seating and thus comfort/visibility could well deter some families from attending.
I don't know how practical/economical this would be but one solution would be to extend the Main Stand toward the Springfield end as this area is simply landscaped with shrubs at present. An additional 300+ seats would be a major step forward.

I think you will find that is allways what that bit of landscaped ground has been left for , to expand the main stand.

Agreed. I just think that it's a question of timing. I would imagine that it was originally planned as something to be done in a few years time, given the current level of support it would be good to have it done for next season.

Lcfc - extending the main stand is the last phase as it stands, and this area is the only access to the Springfield end & river terrace.
Think current plan is increased standing terraces on 3 sides and a toilet & groundsman block at Springfield end. All in all excellent that within a year the clubs under pressure to examine such options.

The club have stated a few times that they are looking at extending the Main Stand towards the Springfield End by another 200 seats or so, as well as adding more terracing to the Town End, possibly with a little more at the Springfield End and on the river side too.
However, I think that the Main Stand extension was expected to cost around £500k, while the other options would be cheaper.
barmingstone - what has access to the Springfield End got to do with extending the Main Stand? The turnstiles are all in the same place and long as the extension is only taken as far as the steps, I don't see a problem with exits.
I really hope that we can expand JWW to whatever size we require. Moving to an out of town ground would be bad for the club in the long term, and I can't see any new location being as good as the current one.

I totally agree with you StonedProf . How much do we owe the attendances at the Gallagher to its position within the town

The good location is probably the difference between the attendances the club expected to get and those we are actually getting.

Agree with Stonedprof, the location is what gets the fans in. If you have groups of guys that go into town on Saturday for a few beers, when they know there's a home game on, they pop down for it. Saturdays at home now get 1,800 or so, great numbers.

Spoke to Bill at W&H and he said the interviewer was told 5,000 - not 25,000.

Any chance it was a misprint? 5,000 seems more likely. ;D

6,000 would be plenty. Takes you up to League One level and frankly I don't see us going any further than that!
