Interesting piece in this weeks Downs Mail freepaper on the possible expansion of the Gallagher - but the bit that really catches the attention is where Bill Williams expresses the view that given the land and money he foresees a time when we could welcome 25,000 people into the ground!
Surely that's just a little bit too optimistic? I was under the impression that JWW could effectively cope with a 6,000 capacity ground, which begs the question, where are we going to put the other 19K?

Its a bit more than optimistic, i can see a lovely ground with a capacity of about 7000 but no more to be honest otherwise the stands will be bloody high.

I think that the only way that a capacity of 25,000 could be achieved is if Springfield Mill becomes available for redevelopment and a large stand could be built at the Springfield End, with a similarly large stand over the car park at the Town End. Even then, it would be difficult.

I remember a few year back Fulham were looking to expand Craven Cottage and had plans drawn up to expand one of there stands over the Thames on some sort of pontoon, I think it was expensive and never went ahead, still it's a long way off if ever, we will need a ground that holds 25,000

Is this so that we can accommodate all of Tonbridge's fans in a Conf S game in a few years?

Any chance it was a misprint? 5,000 seems more likely.

The key part of the statement is "given the ground" doesn't necessarily mean the Gallagher!

Look at Darlington, they built a 20K plus stadium, went bust and now they are in the ninth tear. We will be fine if we get up to about 5,000.
