Looks like we are losing the services of Gavin Greenfield As he can't commit to training and attending games due to work commitments, Jay has said he is actively looking for a centre back, fingers crossed

Yeah, sack the manager, he could have signed Chris Samba who was willing to take a cut in wages...

Hopefully an announcement will be made before Saturday, this must've been on the cards with Greenfield, this was clearly a problem position before today, surely Jay has got someone lined up?

I'll retract what I said on another thread yesterday. Panic has set in. Jay needs to sign a new centre back like yesterday. Come on, come on, hurry up Jay, we're waiting! ;D

A really important signing this one coming up.
Needs to be pacey & to be able to command the box.
Appearances / reputations can be deceptive. Remember in late 2011 we signed Lee Gledhill ( from Essex somewhere ?? ) to play centre half.
Lee was a good lad, but had a high pitched voice and the turning circle of a supertanker. This culminated in him getting sent off at Worthing ( last man / too slow / hauled down the striker ) and Stones loosing 1 - 5............
Get this one right chaps ( please ).

The Worthing player actually fell over his own feet. The club tried to appeal it. But apart from that, yeah, fully agree!

He could always play there himself He played there a few times at Ashford, under Ford. The only person who thought he was still a midfielder after that was Jay himself!

A pacey CB would be a bonus, but one that can organise the back four, and read the game well is more important at this level. I am sure Jay has been keeping his eyes open

I am sure Jay has been keeping his eyes open Completely agree with this, I'd take a gobby ,experienced CB any day over a pacey quiet one. With absolutely no disrespect to any of our defenders, we lack a commander back there who can organise things.
