True, the midfield looked OK when given the ball

Even though we weren't great i think the fact we were in a winning position, with 10 or so minutes to go, shows something. We were grinding the result out. I think olorunda played well, but he isn't a centre half and i think the lack of organisation and concentration at a key point in the game cost us over anything else.

Skydweller, rather than have a pop at the stewards why don't you give up some of your time and volunteer to help out. As I have said on another post some of us have just finishaed an NVQ course on stewarding which includes first aid and fire training. There are not many of us and we could do with some help. If you, or anyone else, sees anything untoward then please bring it to the attention of the nearest steward. Most of us are in radio contact with the safety officer and chief steward and if we can't resolve the problem then i am sure they can. As I say to people I work with, please don't slag us off if you havn't done the job yourself, we are all on a learning curve this year.

Lack of pace throughout the side, Flish and Woolery excepted. Need a right winger - Whitely is missed here. King needs to work on right foot but will never thrive on long balls. Defence needs to learn to give the ball to midfield rather than pump it long. Tommy Os particularly guilty of the hopeful punt. HOWEVER...... when we do get it down and play, we are capable of some good stuff. And grinding out results when playing badly is the stuff of champions.

All of our defenders seem to have mastered the art of punting it long whilst making it look like they're measuring a pass. They'll look up and use the outside of their foot...before punting it long!

I suppose if you haven't been a semi-professional footballer you should not be allowed an opinion on the side? a large group of maidstone fans instigated a chant that made frequent reference to the C word, and a steward who was leaning on the barrier completely ignoring it and watching the match rather than having a word.

When I got home from the match on Saturday I wanted to post but decided just to see how I felt after a period of reflection! The result was disappointing of course and the tide could well turn if we don't bounce back quickly what with us having to go to Dulwich and Leatherhead/Dulwich being replayed. But just a couple of points. I like Deren. I think he is a good GK but he needs to start commanding his box. Tim O should not be playing at centre half and that didn't help us but Jay had a selection problem so I can understand why that came about and he has done it before against different opposition but I was worried every time the ball went near him. Alex Brown needs to be playing in the centre where he can control the game. Too isolated on the right. I think it was there No.4, he gave Welford a torrid afternoon and won almost everything. King is starting to show his quality. Some really good touches here and there, creating space and opportunity. Danny Lye - I didn't think he did much wrong. Solid and simple. Done the job that was asked of him and even picked out a few decent passes. Maybe Jay could have taken more of a risk in the selection, or changed things to at least get some of the people in the right areas. Tommy Oz at centre half, Josh in at full back, Kaiyne out right with Brown in centre with Tim O or Phillips. Might have worked but then when you’re up 2-1 with all your big hitters out on the field you would expect to see it out. Anyway, Leatherhead. They done alright and got amongst us all day long but I didn't think they got at us or exposed us as much as CDG. But just my opinion. A couple of silly mistakes cost us. If we had won 2-1 the tone in this thread would have been different, understandably ;D Chins up and get behind the lads! COYS!

I think you have it spot on as i cannot remeber the last time i walked away from a home game saying we played well just walking away saying we rode our luck again. Hopefully this will be the kick up the A**e we need.
