Seriously, would a print based Fanzine really work in this day & age ? ( I guess it just might do with hungry consumers at the Gallagher ). Surely web / blogging is the way to go............. I don't think so. While there are many good blogs out there like twohundredpercent, it simply doesn't often cross my mind to check them and so I don't end up reading them all that much. When there is someone actively selling them at a game, it's different. Show Me The Way To Go Home was a success all the time we stayed at Sittingbourne, but the move to Ashford led to a drop in the number of readers and contributors, and I think Bryan started to make a loss, which coupled with changed work hours led to him to cease publication. As has been said, with our crowds and the general enthusiasm around the place at the moment, I think a fanzine would work.

Just to clarify:
Show Me The Way To Go Home was put to bed once my employers changed my Saturday hours. This effectively left me little time to get to Bourne Park, let alone physically sell the fanzine. In the last four years of editing the fanzine it did not make a loss (individual issues may have done, but overall it made a profit) and this profit was donated to the Bring The Stones Home coffers once I had decided to close the fanzine down.
As for re-starting the fanzine, sorry guys it's just not going to happen. I simply do not have the time or, sadly, the enthusiasm anymore despite believing that it would be hugely successful at the Gallagher. It's not just selling the 'zine, it's finding the time to write articles, editing it all, getting it to the printers, collecting it again etc etc..
I do believe there is a place for a printed fanzine and should someone out there be mad enough to give it a go they have my full support and, possibly a regular contribution.

Why don't the people who want one all meet up and sort one out amongst themselves rather than the "I want one, but only if somebody else" attitude. I think between you all you'll have the resources. Stoned Profs brain, island Stones humour porkies eloquence and 'antstones, well antstone.

I do not think some people who are asking you to relaunch SMTWTGH Brian appreciate how much time and effort it takes . But if they want a fanzine then they should recapture the spirit that we had in the 90s D.I.Y .

Some comments on the above:
a) DIY - it's a Peter Gabriel album track from 1978 ( OK, wrong thread )
b) Porkies eloquence - thats an oxymoron, or its flattering or something. Don't make me laugh.
c) I grudgingly accept the ideas of a committee, although I very much respect one man free spirit approach. Surely Hantstone set up this Board with the free spirit that once made Britain a great Country to live in...... Committees.. I once was ( long time ago ) on a "Committee" to sell Hot Dogs to people on a sponsored walk. My nominated role was "bread roll man" . So I turned up at the prearranged place/time with 300 bread rolls. It slowly occurred to me that I was quite alone - the sausage man - no show - the sauces man, no ******* show, the man who was supposed to get the heating machine for the water etc etc, no show.
I was left with these rolls, which I recall were used up by people kicking them around as replacement footballs ........
Don't talk to me about Committess.......
d) The best parts of the old fanzine were Bryan's bits, which were superb ( big man, could you still contribute ? ) Moley's Shorts ( Darren, you up for it mate ) and the part where individual supporters e-mailed in their reviews of away games ( game/ground/transport/beer/atmsophere/beer etc ). + the Prof's bits ofcourse.
e) Since coming to the Gallacher, so many quality people have joined the gang who could add so much. We don't even know half of them.........
f) You would need a strong editor to sift things & be firm in rejecting articles that just didn't come up to scratch.
g) Getting people to contribute is not as easy as it sounds, not at all. I once knew ( via a 3rd party ) a chap who edited the Fanzine for Barrow FC ( thriving North West England team ) - 'Give 'Em Beans' I think. Graham ( this chap ) had part of the 'zine as letters from fellow fans, which was a full and buzzing section. Only under extreme interrogation did Graham admit that he made up each and every letter himself - nobody wrote to him, nobody cared at all..........

Let's not forget Heathside's contributions, which not only included some fine articles but also some classic covers.
I'm sure my brain could be a fine resource to a new fanzine, but by the time a new fanzine was ready to start, I might be in a different part of the country (depends on getting a job, you see). Hence why I'm only willing to commit to writing a monthly column to any new fanzine.
I'm not sure that contributions would be too much of a problem considering how opinionated many of our fans are and all the ranting that goes on this forum. As I said before, if someone wants to do a fanzine, then I'll happily fill 2-4 pages every month, but I can't promise any more than that. If I could, I'd have probably been begging Bryan for advice and looking for a co-editor around the middle of last season!
