Well don't blame the Club for that statement, I wrote it, so moan at me. I'm not a journalist, I'm not a diplomat...I'm also not trying to rub any salt into your wounds, or anything like that. We clearly felt that we had a great chance of the game playing, & we gave it a go. As someone who goes home & away I clearly know how pissed off you all are, but we wanted to play as much as you lot, who travelled. We're gutted it's off. We tried to get the game on, we kept you informed as much as we could...we tried. And we are sorry. there isn't really much else we can say. fair enough.

Its the statement by Hamletman at 11.40 'Definitely On' that really pisses me off.

Very well done for the effort but that's not the point our players and manager view is that is it was never a close run thing as the pitch was nowhere never playable so who ever said it was okay should never be allowed to make that decision again..

Decision should have been made to play or not at 10 30. Common sense would suggest that fans would soon start their journeys soon after and match officials should have realised this. C?ck up, IMO.

Got no problem with the Dulwich fans, a good effort (although not sure if the same effort would've been made if it was Merstham at home), other than Helmetman who has come on here and clearly influenced some of us to make the journey.

I'm staying at Dulwich tonight based on 10.30 pitch inspection. I still thank DH supporters for all their hard work today as I'm sure all non league fans would have done the same for a top of the table clash ( or any ) Personally I believe they have lost out financially as there will not be such a huge following on a Tue eve & agree the break is good for out team.

I drove 25-30miles for a beer and burger yet tbh I feel more sorry for the DH fans who worked there arse off to clear the pitch which I fought was done EXTREMELY well and was more than playable on yet the managers including (the legend) Saunders didn't want to risk there players on the bloody eleventh hr effing liberty FULL respects to both Dulwich Hamlet fans and the travel wary Maidstone fans who turned up Owell bring on Folkestone on Tues Come On You Stones...... Lets just keep rolling

if thats the case how can the ref say the ground was ok at 1030am and then 3 hours later say the ground was unplayable when the weather hadnt changed, its a disgrace as posted on the other thread, it was a different ref, which is even more laughable. Not really, it's common procedure for a local - qualified - ref, to pass the early inspection. This was obviously misguided. The conditions clearly did not deteriorate between 10:30 and 1:00. Even less so between the 1:00 inspection and the 1:40 decision to call it off. All sorts of rumours flying around, but it suited us, it's just the timing that was poor

I agree he got it wrong at 10:30
But there's others saying that having seen it at 1:40 it shouldn't have been called off....whilst others saying having seen it at the same time it should not have been played...backed up with video evidence
All about opinion

jay's opinion of the pitch was pretty damning and i'm prepared to accept his opinion over most tbh
