Interesting stuff from Uncle Bill
"But with the help of a civil engineer we are having a look at the possibility of being able to put in temporary portable terracing along parts of the open west side section."

Just read that myself and am puzzled why it cant be permanent, obviously somebody will come on and explain the reasons, still no mention of extra toilets which i think are needed

I assume temporary until the summer when they have the time to do some excavation/permament building

I assume temporary until the summer when they have the time to do some excavation/permament building Not sure they'll be able to do that without forking out vast amounts to move the water main. I assumed temporary meant the kind of portable terracing that can be moved out of the way to give the water company access.

As Dave says, finances to sort the water main out will be an issue

Didn't Northampton Town line up pallets to stand on when they shared their pitch with a cricket club?

I doubt H&S would allow us to stand on pallets, they didn't want us to stand on the back step of the stands behind the goals until Darren sorted it (that's where the extra 226 came from before the Brighton game) My guess would be wheeled terrace similar to Chelmsford, so they could be pulled off to get to the main if necessary( although they've got to jack hammer thro' the asphalt first!
Remember the song at Chelmsford?
''The wheels on your stand go round and round'' ;D

Visiting other grounds this season it amazes me as to why the H&S people are so stringent with the Gallagher.

It must be possible to manufacture interlocking terraces around 3 or 4 steps deep that bolt together and to the back fence allowing them to be easily removed if required and still leave a reasonable pathway between them and the pitch barrier although I guess maybe not behind the dugouts as this could cause a bottleneck. Would significantly increase the capacity.

Would think it would increase the view certainly maybe not the capacity, as you couldn't have 4 steps and people standing 4 deep?
There was still plenty of room in the big stand first half New Years Day, and even more 2nd half when we squeezed into the Town end, but maybe people don't like standing behind the goal!

I think it is a great move by the club. What we didnt want was fans being put off coming to some games because they feared they might not be able to see anything. Once in place there will be a good view of the game all round the stadium.

whats water main doing that side of the ground. must be an exsisting main or storm pipes to river medway. or ..... an expense to re divert when building, which is understandable. this would a be major cost. permission, advice, engineer, drawings, insurances, excavator, muck away, new pipes, jointers, re enstatement possibly tarmac depending what will above plus labour.......etc. i think better longer term temp terrace would be sensible, save up for a proper job and get monies worth out of the temp set up cor i do get carried away. we have a superb ground and we are all grateful to not have a dump like others do. peace n love, c'mon you stones
