For what it's worth....I agree....keep banging your drum. It creates an atmosphere and we need that. If people don't like it move a couple of feet away from it. It's not as if it is ear splitting.....if we shouted louder and chanted/sung more we would drown it out anyway. And it helps because very few people actually clap the beat of our chants!
Also a quick mention on something that appeared on another thread the other day.....please do not disrespect anyone else trying to start a chant or song .... join in, even if it is a younger member of the crowd. It makes them feel good and will encourage them even more.....disrespect them and they may not bother joining in, or even turning up, any more!
Just my opinion.

Good point - though instead of Stuart King perhaps we could have got Gareth Malone in to sort out our singing, or lack of it - Bill W always says good crowd noise is like having an extra player!
(Imagine a pic of Gareth M here, I can't seem to copy and paste one).

Keep it. You can relate this post with my 1 about songs for Sittingbourne. Its simple, if you want to be around it you will. Use your brain with it though. Don't need it constantly banging through out as people will give up with it. You personally will lift the crowd better with that drum than a group of 10 fella's will. I will be listening to the game live tonight so if your there i will listen out for you. Keep up the good work

I don't mind the drum, does tend to get people going! Remember Dover a few years ago in the pub? The chant ''We've gotta bigger drum than you............'' ;D Please don't revel in such chants, Tim, or the Sittingbourne choir members will be back to have a go at you for lack of creativity. However, unlike their great songs, said chant did have an air of accuracy about.

it would seem there is a large support for the drum and i thank you all for you views. i got a complaint for not having the drum today. i dont take it to all the games so not to over do it and when it is at a game i try not to over do it or drown out the sometimes few who will sing when 1 down. who was at halesowen? 35 mins of great escape that all 170-200 stones fans joined in on......... help me help the team. c'mon you stones. p n l

A big yes to the drum, it does help give atmosphere, and the people that don't like it, oh well, it could be worse - how about having someone blow a horn constantly throughout the game, now THAT is annoying, at least you can start chants with the drum! We all like a bit of drum'age

i think the bolton drummer over cooked it then went awol. gills had a go at a drum, apparently was introduced to the crowd (squirm) and everything... didnt work out. check out the nutty argies on you tube, they're lined up 4-5 bass drums in a row. mr antstone you have my respect for taking on board peoples views.

There's been a drum at games? I really need to stop drinking. I would like to echo Mr Heathside's quote, i really must cut back on the drinking as i didn't hear a drum, bloody hell what is in that beer
