Thought there no 14 was lucky to stay on the pitch. I am sure he was the one tussling with Corne on the floor. They were a tough side similar to Slough but Slough were less dirtier. We played well and would definitely be top of the crossbar challenge after today's match.

Hemel were just out footballed and the ref let them get away a lot. The refs at this level aren’t great. I wonder if I am influenced by watching the Premier league which makes me a bit soft when it comes to watching The Stones though

Funny how the player who instigated the tussle was the one who escaped punishment I hate to say it because I think we need to encourage more people into officiating football but the officials were an absolute joke today imho. As the tussle continued near the halfway line, the play had continued to near the end of the pitch yet the referee didn't even consult his assistant (I don't know why the call linesmen that nowadays cos I don't see a lot of assisting sometimes) who was about 10 yards from the tussle. Also deep in the 2nd half the ball went out for a throw right next to the corner flag yet they let them take the throw from almost level with the edge of the penalty area! Very pleased with Stones performance today. Unlike most (on here anyway) since the start of the season I have thought most of our players, individually, are v good or better for Nat S but that the problem early season was the new side just wasn't quite clicking and moves were breaking down too often with players on different wavelengths. However recent games some of the triangles and one/twos in midfield and attack have been superb for large periods of games. Huge if but if we can continue playing the way we have the last few games till the end of the season I would expect us to be in the play offs, minimum.

We have to turn the clever play into goals. We dominated for a large part of the game but just lacked the goal scorers touch or a little bit of luck (or perhaps we should increase the height of the crossbar).
The encouraging thing is we have not been out played in recent games and the team is no longer playing like strangers.
We look dangerous on the counter and fingers crossed this may be to our advantage on Saturday.

The encouraging thing is we have not been out played in recent games and the team is no longer playing like strangers. We look dangerous on the counter and fingers crossed this may be to our advantage on Saturday. For the last few games I have thought we're playing better with each game, and we now have a team that is the match of any in the NS, and is packed with individual talent (I struggled to pick a MotM today, and eventually gave up - there were just too many candidates!). But we do still have a couple of problems - the lesser of the two being the lack of size of players, we get outmuscled every game. We're looking better at the back now, but we still have nothing in the way of height or bulk to offer in attack. But our main problem is the lack of goals, especially from our forward(s). In fact, that in itself is a problem - we seem to have only one forward! And Blair, as good as he is, simply can't do it on his own. We need a variety of threat up the front, not just one forward, on his own. In theory, that would be players like Bentley or Trusty or Benton (or almost any other mid-field player!), but they always seem to operate too deep to really partner Blair. Either they are going forward too rarely for it to make much difference, or else Blair has to drop back to get the ball - and then there is often no one else up front for him to supply, so he has to do that job as well. I assumed Coulthirst was supposed to play this role, working together up front, but he never seems to start these days. Presumably this is, at least in part, down to George - either he thinks operating with one striker is the way forward, or he simply doesn't think he has the players to fill the role. But, until this is sorted out, we will continue to rely on Blair managing to escape the attention of 6'4" gorillas long enough to shoot, and the odd goal coming from somewhere else. Which means continuing as we are - playing really well, but constantly having to hang on to one goal leads. And a single goal lead is just an invitation to Fate to take two points away from us before the game is out - the difference between a good play-off finish and relegation.

Yeah, pretty much agree with you on all of that. Blair must me a defender's worst nightmare, he's quick, skillful, intelligent and more. I was hopeful ( before I actually saw him play) that Ludovica might provide some of the height and muscle up front to complete our attack and complement Aaron. I agree that our midfielders need to get up the pitch closer to him sometimes to help him although I think we're improving a bit in that regards, Benton in particular.

I think the shape of the team is set for a period until we stop getting good results now. I can pretty much guarantee you that ludovica will move in as soon as the agreed loan period is over maybe even before: apparently Bill was at Ebbsfleet yesterday scouting. I reckon we are looking for that striker you want

Our superstar goalie is 4th bottom. There is value to be had there as I am sure both sides will need to shake things up

I reckon we are looking for that striker you want Bill’s programme notes were all about the difficulty in finding a quality striker. I’m not sure who he would have been scouting in a game involving 2 of the bottom 4 in the national league.

Happy enough with the performance, lookng play off contenders in all but the striking department. Of course it is mega difficult to find a proven goalscorer that will fit into the team. Tbh you need some luck too. Pleased now with the way the team plays, it is becoming quite attractive on the eye. George still needs a couple of new signings of the right quality and we will def move up the table

The triangles are starting to work well and Blair seems to get quicker every game. Unfortunately key passes to him went astray yesterday, whereas against Ebbsfleet, he was finding space with ease. Compared to our promotion season, Corne now plays much deeper - Reagan Booty's role? - so is rarely sniffing around the box these days and isn't scoring as many as he used to. The others - Bentley, Fonku, etc just don't look like regular scorers at the moment. As for yesterday, highlights are already on YouTube and show that while the keeper was out of his area, the ball wasn't, so correct decision. The hand in the face for Corne while not pleasant came when their 14 was looking the other way, so guess that is why he escaped with a yellow. They were certainly robust and why referees continue to give fouls against our smaller players when they barely breathe on an opponent, yet we get nothing when clattered is a mystery. Blair is very good at niggling the big boys though. Another reason why I like him more and more

Pleased with the performance today. Officials were missing on key decisions. HH no14 should have have 2 yellows minimum and the linesman on main stand was daydreaming all game. Blair needs earlier support from midfield and we are starting to play higher up the pitch so it’s improving. Benton unlucky with his crossbar shot and we were panicking in the last 10 mins as usual but escaped finally. Would prefer Corne to play higher as he was playing so deep. Looking a settled side now and difficult for Bentley, Biv, Higgs Shaq Raphe etc to get a start now. My MoM was Charlie Seaman.
