As I am in Gran Canaria may I enquire as to the behaviour of said morons. Did they be behave themselves? From the MS, they seemed to. I didn't notice much cross-barrier 'banter', and didn't see anyone removed. I think our fans were just too busy enjoying a surprise win, and their fans were just too dejected to bother - most of them left well before the end. There were also a lot of stewards - more than was usual last season, and they seemed much better organised. In the last 10 or 15 minutes they actually widened the barrier by making fans on both sides move further away. Perhaps we are employing a different security firm - one that knows what it's doing? Outside the ground, there were police everywhere. I didn't see or hear of any trouble - but, as I said above, I think the Fleet fans were too pissed off even for that. Some fat Ebbsfleet fan got thrown out and some other fat Ebbsfleet fans surrounded the police and stewards talking to him at the bottom of the stairs. Top tip: if youโre going to eject some fat Ebbsfleet fan, interrogate him outside the ground, not in front of some other fat Ebbsfleet fans. Is the scoreboard broken?

Looking at the highlights, Fleet supporters entitled to be miffed about our first goal as hard to see how it crossed the line. That said the linesman was very much up with the play throughout the game and seemed a very decent, honest person...๐๐๐. Likewise the possible penalty in the second half. Very marginal in terms of whether it was in the area or not. However, nice to see the Pendulum of Fortune going out way for a change. Indeed in the Cup last season, especially when we were clear underdogs, officials seemed fairly lenient towards us. Contrast that with the 'bias' towards visiting teams at the Gallagher in the league. It is almost as if officials subconsciously favour the underdog, with our bigger crowds going against us. That, or the standard of refs is higher as you go further in the cup. Saturday's officials were constantly chatting to the players, politely reminding them to take restarts from the right place, yet clearly with good authority against any whining, so well done them. It was as refreshing to see as our own performance - unlike England last night, one free kick excepted...

Secondly, my first reaction was that Fowler won the ball and I didnโt see anything in the highlights to change my mind.

Nor was the first goal marginal at all imo.
I though maybe the keeper could have done better, def off balance and on his back foot.
But the ball was easily over the line, probably by 12 inches.
Not a difficult call for the lino at all.

The highlights confirm three things. The ball crossed the line. The goalkeeper Cousins was culpable. The linesman was brave as he called it as he saw it without taking the cowards option.

Donโt think you could tell from the highlights but the photo in Kentonline certainly indicated it was over the line. Not sure Iโd blame Cousins for that one but he could definitely have done better with the second.

Strange how we see the same highlights and come to different conclusions.
For me the ball was 100% over the goal-line, no ifs and buts, no doubts.
In fact, well over.

I agree with you Dan and I also think the keeper could have done better.
But I'm very happy he didn't.
Glad daveu wasn't the lino.

The Lino was almost in line with it unlike the highlights or my position in the main stand. The angle in the highlights is inconclusive unlike the photo on kentonline which clearly shows the ball over the line.

The highlights show me what I saw in the game. Not much. The linesman and the 50 or so fans level with him had the best view. He gave it. It must have been over the line.

Can't see much from grovegreenies reproductions
But Stones TV highlights much clearer, the ball was over the line.
Happy days.

What I luv about this forum is how supporters find new and inventive ways of disagreeing with each other.
