I agree with most of that. When we signed Ludovica I was hopeful that he might be the type of player Blair could feed off but it would appear not. Maybe desperation but why not throw Greenidge or Eweka up front( not just for set pieces) for a short period during games? Might sound a bit crazy but managers in the past used to do this sort of thing, I'm sure Jay used Steve Watt up front on more than one occasion? That's exactly what George appeared to be doing at HB - Greenidge and Eweka seemed to be constantly up the front. I'm not sure Greenidge did much to help, but I've always thought Eweka is much more than a defender and he looked quite dangerous at time. But the problem is that the wing-backs had to fall back to cover the missing defenders, in case of an HB attack, so we lost the usual service down the wing. Blair was constantly having to drop back to pick up the ball, fight to hold on to it, and then try to cross it - to no one. Whereas, he should have been the one in the area, getting balls fed in from the wings. Interesting! I should have pointed out I couldn't make it to HB.

Can only comment on the highlights, which overall show the usual lack of sharpness in the box. Plenty of chances, but none taken. Two penalties and Ewaka's header off the post would have made it all look much more positive though. Nice to see Sam Corne getting forward. With Papadopulous alongside him in midfield, must hope he has licence to do that in league games, where he was playing far too deep earlier in the season. Just think Blair is the new Matt Rush - willing chase everything, but in desperate need of a partner. Otherwise, still lacking in flair, far too formulaic and far too easy for the opposition to set up to negate. Worthing next of course, with Mo Faal. Given our ability to switch off several times a game, better hope they have an off day...

Not only because it was good to have him back, but for the way he played - he adds bite and purpose to the midfield. The only problem is he's fearless and goes in for challenges most players would pull out of. He had a clattering Saturday that I was sure was going to put him back on the injury list, if not in hospital. But he picked himself up and carried on. When you look back at the players we lost when we didn't go up last season - and consider the exposure he got for his goal at Ipswich, it's a minor miracle that we've still got Corne.

Just been listening to George's post match interview. He was happy with the result which is fair enough. But he also sounded equally happy with the performance, particularly that the team kept a clean sheet. What ? George you do know that HB are a little club in the South East section of the Ishmian League. The performance was not nearly good enough imo, once again our supporters came close to having their pants bored off. I am not sure if George is happy enough with what's going on with the team at present, or if he doesn't like to admit to deficiencies publicly. But you can only judge him by what he says. I still think this team is short of at least 3 quality players in key positions, mostly in the attacking roles. Until the team gets strengthened, we are likely to continue with some underwhelming performances. If George is happy with what he sees, nothing will really change, the 2yrs of shit football will continue and the crowds will get smaller and smaller. Totally agree. Something needs to change

In fairness I can remember previous times not so long ago when watching Stones was a turgid experience. Happened with the Wheeler Dealer, Hak and even Jay towards 'the end'. The difference was we were struggling in the National League at the time, not the NLS. Following the Stones at present is not much fun other than spending time with yer mates. Pre match banter still goes on but once the football starts, enthusiasm just seems to wane. The team is too predictable and doesn't exactly get the pulse racing. Attacking options don't look great and the style of play seems defensively biased. Yawn ! Only just summoned up the motivation to draft this post, it's just seeping away a bit. Great post, sums up how a lot of us are feeling. George is a big personality, a motivator, has great guts, has PL pedigree, is a great ambassador, and was a brilliant Manager for the cup run. However his NLS squad this year looks great on paper but on the pitch has no personality, no quality, no guts, no commitment to the club and no hope right now. I like the comment elsewhere that at HB they looked like they had just rocked up to play a game and were meeting each other for the first time.............as this seems to be the case most weeks............so what is going wrong? Boring, embarassing, all spot on right now. COYS give the fans something to cheer about and be hopeful about. Like seeing some football played. We dont expect to win 5-1 every week but when we lose lets lose 3-4 and have a great time at least.
