Not sure Herne Bay has produced any great historical figures of note but on a visit earlier in the Summer I seem to remember a seeing a rather good bronze statute of Amy Johnson, the aviator. She was the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930. No links to HB other than ditching her plane nearby in the estuary back in the wartime years. Onto football this will be a really huge match for the Bay and a tricky one for the Stones. Surely we've got to win this one. There will be no plaudits if we win and if we lose - well, let's no go there ! At least you don't live here and have to face the Herne Bay boys on a regular basis if we lose!

Best thing about Herne Bay is that its pretty close to Whitstable. That sort of chat gets you in problems down these ere parts

Right you faking mawgs. Tickets on sale here hernebayfc.ktckts.com/brand/match-ticketsParking in abundance near the ground. If it's not happening near the ground then go back up Spenser Road and across Canterbury road back into Spenser Road. You'll find parking in Douglad. Oakdale, Herne Bay Avenue. All a short walk from the ground. The clubhouse is ok although may struggle with a big crowd. If you are here early then The Prince of Wales is OK for footie fans, the Ship on the sea front has a decent view but is more upmarket. There is also the Divers and the Wetherspoons (near the clocktower). Plenty of cafes in the town for a fry up. I pray we win this or I have to live with it long after you have gone home.

Excellent draw - trip to the coast, easy train journey, 10 mins from the station.
3,000 capacity. Big game for them, local derby for us - sell-out? Or too early in the Fantastic Stones 24-25 Cup run?
HB currently 15th in the ISE - one place above Steyning Town Community FC! An omen??

It will not be a sell out by a long way. The clubhouse will not cope with the numbers and in years gone by some of the Herne Bay supporters have been very keen in starting trouble. When Whitley Bay played there in the vase there were a number of skirmishes and one Whitley fan had red hot soup thrown in her face and was treated at Canterbury hospital for burns. There was also big trouble at the home tie against Yeading in the vase and it got very nasty and I was glad to be on the opposite side of the ground. This of course does not mean it will all kick off in the crowd this time but if our yoof start it I don't think the Bay boys will back down. It should be an easy win but after Needham Market a couple of years back i won't take anything for granted. PS. Under no circumstances book a trip with nws taxis, they have one driver who got lost 30 yards from his front door.

Just to endorse what Sword says, if people want to cause problems Herne Bay will 'entertain' them. I know them and they're a good bunch. They're also capable of standing their ground. Having said that, the last time we went there it was a decent game and we came out on top 3-1. The Bay have been quite tight at the back recently, so our Strikers need their shooting boots As for NWS taxis...it does help if the customer knows where they're going🤣🤣

Prize money £3375. Maybe £2400 for our share of gate receipts. So maybe ~£5775 so far. Prize money £5625. Maybe ~£5000 gate receipts. Around £16,000 in total now?

I spoke to a number of Tonbridge fans earlier today and all of them said that Walton & Hersham were the better team for most of the match and were unfortunate to lose 2-1.
