Reading all the speculation with interest. There is a definitive reason there have been no KM reports on the Stones since 'that' interview. None of the speculations are correct. Unfortunately I was told in confidence, so that is the end of that.

I've no insider information but it looks 99.99% likely to me that there was a bust up of some sort. Denying it now just stirs the pot again, just when things had calmed down.

Cedric now resides at a tortoise shelter on the Isle of Wight where I believe he is doing well alongside two dozen other old timers. Malcolm is happy at the moment because the snooker is on the TV though he swore when O'Sullivan pulled out.

Does Malcolm bet on O'Sullivan to win?

I’m all for media being paid for their content, but there’s no way I will ever pay for a local newspaper.

It's bullshit crazy. Might as well buy the paper . If people actually did buy it, they wouldn’t need to charge for the online version. I’m not sure how they’re expected to keep going if people aren’t going to pay for it. If you buy a copy it’s obvious that advertising revenue is massively down as it’s only about half as thick as it used to be.

Sadly, I think physical newspapers are finished. The death will be long and drawn out, and a few token papers will remain for nostalgic and PR reasons, and there will be a few niche publications that will survive because they can only really exist as physical papers/magazines. But basically, the decline of the daily/weekly newspaper has been inevitable for years.
I used to be a regular newspaper buyer and reader, but I've only bought two KMs in maybe 20 years (both MUFC souvenir editions!). And I even gave up buying the Guardian some years ago - although I became a voluntary supporter, donating roughly the amount I use to spend on the paper each month.
This approach seems to work for papers such as the Guardian. But, I would never subscribe to the Telegraph, for instance. And, for once, not for political reasons, but simply because I think 'compulsory' paid access is just wrong.
So how do I expect services on the internet to survive, if I'm also anti-advertising and the unauthorised use of people's personal data? Good question. To which, I'm afraid, I don't have an answer...

If you want to read KM articles for free, click on them via X or Facebook.
It makes searching for a particular story more difficult, but seems to work, for now.

Repeat every few days.
