Is negativity just a thing with Stones supporters. It’s 3 points against tough opposition in the first game of the season but this conversation is dominated by complaints. If we can beat St Albans when not at our best I’m looking forward to when it clicks. Negativity? Maybe but you’d have to agree with most of the comments. It’s just opinion on a fans forum and not really over the top. That’s the problem

The good news is, we won away on the opening day of the season against a good team. The bad news is, the way our injuries are stacking up, we'll have a whole new team by the middle of September. That's playing on grass for you...

However, Higgs has appeared to be struggling since taking a knock at Folkestone. Gurung and Greenidge might have been left out for tactical reasons, but it would be surprising to me if George didn't at least include them on the bench. Seaman, Higgs, Greenidge(?), Kyprianou, Andrade, Raphe, Bivesh(?) If correct, the situation doesn't exactly reflect well on the club's much-advertised data-driven fitness analysis, that is meant to be informing the training programmes... I hope it is nothing more significant than teething issues.

Waste of money🤬

Waste of money🤬 I can see the benefits as players will always want to 'play on'. Perhaps the data side of things allows us to make a more informed decision. In spite of this, we know there are no guarantees and injuries are inevitably part of football. The technology is best used to assist, not to actually decide. It's to reduce the chances, not eliminate. With that said, I can't remember a pre season culminating with this many out. We're either experiencing some seriously bad luck, our players are getting kicked and fouled far too much, or something else is wrong. George is no fool, he will be on it.

More than happy with yesterday.
Not perfect, but look at positives, we WERE under pressure in the first half but stayed strong and didn't concede.
Then turned the game around, certainly 2nd half they presented very little threat and the only side that looked like scoring, did.
Remember the start of 2015/16? Not many goals but the most solid defence, that didn't turn out too badly.
I had about 3 tries at commenting on a handful of negative opinions, then realised it is not really worth it

Highlights suggest that, for all their pressure, St Alban's didn't create much in the way of first half chances and absolutely zero in the second. When you barely play anyone of any note pre season, then it is only after the first half dozen games that we will have any idea of where we stand. That said, a defence well organised enough to keep a clean sheet ain't a bad start. As for fitness, it is fairly well known that George trains harder than anyone on the pitch, so maybe players are being pushed too much early on and suffering the consequences? While agreeing with Sword's sentiments, there is a lot of science behind fitness training these days and if it helps build programmes to suit each individual that's fine by me. Unfortunately, too many sports folk are so fine tuned, they seem vulnerable to a host of niggles which makes you wonder what the right balance might be.

Can we all agree that Stones were magnificent and very likely to win the league this year.
If not, I will leave you to your fate when Mr U comes on at 3pm, groggy from his night out on Top Deck tops and lambasts you all.
It's your choice.

After watching the highlights. No new issues really arose, we still can't use space all that well and half our chances end up blocked but that's about it, we just need to be more physical and create easier chances

As for the defence - from the terraces it seemed a bit panicky in the first half. But, on reflection, hardly any of their attacks got through. And, when your goalie has little more to do than take goal kicks, then your defence is doing ok.
The missing factor here is - just how good are St A? Was that a good performance against a difficult side (one of only two clubs to do the double over us last season, after all), or just an ok result against a mid-table outfit?
With Jeffers, I would have said they were a difficult side (as per last season), but without Jeffers (or with a less than impressive Jeffers) they looked second-rate.
Of course, we won't know until the season settles down...

Slightly off topic, but I think I noticed last season that Luke Rooney was plying his trade in the SCEFL. Possibly where his namesake Wayne will be if Plymouth’s form continues…
