Gotta agree with most on here, still waiting he who is never wrong and his opinion. Why pick on me. My opinion is just as valid as anyone else’s and I have never claimed it is anything other than an opinion, and I haven’t even expressed an opinion on this thread. Some dictators clearly don’t like it when I don’t agree with their every utterance.

Slightly disagree with JDL’s figures for this season. To date, aggregate attendance (league games only) is 45,896, an average of 2,086, compared to an average of 2,142 for last season. JDL is correct to mention the number of Tuesday games which has been unusually high, partly because of the number of games rearranged because of our Cup run. The split of the above figure is: Saturday/Bank Holidays (ie 3pm kick-offs) 11 games @ 2,392 (last season 15 games @ 2,283) Midweek (ie 7:45pm kick-offs) 11 games @ 1,780 (last season 8 games @ 1,877). So, a slight increase on Saturday/Bank Holidays offset by lower attendances for Midweek games AND a higher proportion of Midweek games. There would need to be an attendance of 3,375 at the Hampton & Richmond game to close the gap to last season’s average which seems unlikely. Quite right, Geoffrey - I cocked up the mid-week total (I think I forgot Weymouth!). I've corrected the original posts. Ta for the IS season average too.

I feel the prices certainly don't help
Whenever I mention to friends about coming to games, they seem interested, ask how much it costs and as soon as I say 17 quid to stand or 20 for a seat their tone completely changes and say no it's too expensive.
Why we might be happy to pay it, in this financial climate its expensive for what is step 6 football.

Try taking young kids anywhere for less.
We’re one of the lowest attended full time clubs.
If you want nice things and occasional cup runs, that costs money.

Bored enough to do a quick spreadsheet analysis on our away attendances - and they are bizarre!
Overall average: 3,023 - much better than our home attendance!
Just league games: 1,260
Saturday/BH league games (18): 1,436
Mid-week league games (5): 626
Cup games (FAC & FAT): 8,815!
Highest league attendance: 2,899 (Yeovil) - lowest: 604 (Chippenham)
Highest Sat league attendance: 2,899 (Yeovil) - lowest: 604 (Chippenham)
Highest mid-week league attendance: 845 (Braintree) - lowest: 126 (Taunton)
Highest Cup attendance: 27,273 (Ipswich) - lowest 549 (Winchester)
We got more at Ipswich than our total Saturday/bank holiday away total for the whole season! And only 1,155 less than our total for all away league games.
And the difference between our highest and lowest away gates is 27,147...

Do you think there will be enough money spare from the cup run to sort out the (possibly non-existent) PA in the Town End? I’d like to hear Ian’s dulcet tones telling us the team sheets, and the attendance figures at half time.

We sit directly under one of the speakers now (it's clear, but VERY LOUD). But everywhere else I've stood in the ground I've struggled to hear the team lists, goals, attendances, etc. Considering it was installed as part of a newly-built stadium, it's shocking that it's that poor.

Gotta agree with most on here, still waiting he who is never wrong and his opinion. Do worry for next season if, IF we get promoted. Why build the elvis end then loose 8oo supporters who could have viewed the game but make them go elsewhere eg the sidelines. Agree the quality of football has not been at its best but if you combine that will lack of facilities why would supporters want to return. Yes 5000 at Coventry but are there facilities slightly better than ours. It's a catch 22 nothing will be done until Terry and Co find a buyer. That's not discrediting them as they saved our club but how long can we continue like this. As a footnote scum v Rotherham had violence because the chairman didn't want police inside the groundNice to see you Scooby, I was fearing the worst with you not predicting lately! Leeds Utd won a test case with the odious Ken Bates successfully winning a court case whereby the club is only liable to pay for police officers on duty inside the stadium. Outside of the stadium - historically swarming with vans and horses for every game - now has about a quarter of the numbers and horses are only deployed for certain games because the Police themselves have to fund it and not the club. Interestingly there is very little violence in the ground nowadays, I think Birmingham before lockdown was the last. That's just about the only worthwhile thing Bates accomplished during his tenure - even his buggering off was bad as he left us in the hands of the only penniless Middle-Eastern investment group on the planet. I think the ex West Brom owner who borrowed £20 Million form the club prior to selling it was more penniless

A number of things are required to boost a crowd and we all know that they include a decent product on the pitch, a decent view of that decent product, and people having the money to pay a decent price to get in in order to finance development going forward. Stones used to survive on average crowds of 1500 or so at London Road with an official capacity (pre Valley Parade and Hillsbrough) of around 10,000, but anything more than 2,500 and you were struggling to see what was on the pitch due to hardly any terracing being available as well as the greyhound track forcing the crowdline into those (old) Wembleyesque curves. The club needs to prioritise it's strategy and then commit to it, but it's whether to plough everything into the playing staff and be competitive in a user un-friendly environment as is, or change things up so that for example the Genco is 100% home fans with a committment to redeveloping the TE to a similar standard and size and then they can justify slightly easier the space lost to segregation. For me a quick win is simple open terracing down the riverside with the potential to cover it further down the line. None of this is likely to happen in the short term if Oliver and Terry are looking to sell the club, so I guess until the medium to long term ownership is decided, there's going to be little happening to improve the stadium infrastructure from a supporter viewpoint - pun intended. Certainly agree with the problems caused by the running track (personally, I hate football being played in 'multi-purpose' stadiums for that very reason), and the lights were pretty crap too. But you can't complain about the terracing - I can't remember any other non-league ground with more than we had at the Athletic Ground! Not only was the London Road end effectively half a bowl, with a huge terrace, but the bowling club end also had a large bank of terracing - and I'm pretty sure the Scotsman side was a 7 or 8 step terrace too. I've been to multi-thousand gate games there where everyone had a decent view (albeit of poorly lit players, miles away), and with space to spare. I was a callow youth in those days, would never say boo to a goose so I tended not to push my way through on those rare games when there were more than a couple of thousand at London Road. My early days were in the Scotsman - the railway end which always seemed noisier. Capacity in there dropped when they put those bucket seats in there. A Scotsman stand type set up would be perfect down the river side of the Gallagher. Back to London Road, I tended to stick with Critics Corner in front of the black and amber hut, some people watched from what I remember as a car park behind the goal at the London Road end, but I preferred being close to the pitch. Imagine an extension of the Genco around the corner to the river side and a new Critics Corner......

You just can’t help yourself can you. Controversial comments, your anti-PA agenda, always looking to stir things up at any given opportunity. No wonder people ‘pick on’ you, it’s like you do it deliberately to provoke those of a very sensitive disposition. 😂

Anyway sorry scooby for having a dig at you, that's OK dave I accept your apology NOT.
