Hi everyone,
Following on from last season's nailbiting conclusion to the "guess how many Stones will lose by this time" prediction league, it's time to start over. Will it be Raymondo and nws duking it out again at the top, or will stewjm prevail this time by starting at the same time as everyone else?
Rules:
You can join anytime, but you must make your prediction in advance of kick off, I will ignore any predictions (or edits) made after a time when it appears beyond or close to kick off time. Points are awarded as follows:
1 pt just for posting a prediction
2 pts for getting the correct outcome (W/L/D)
5 pts for getting the correct score
2 pts for the closest attendance prediction, but 5pts if predicted exactly.
Predictions are welcome, please keep them to this thread - I might not see them elsewhere, and if you change your mind at any point, put a new post in by quoting your original one - I record them as they are posted and I might miss an edit. Good luck everyone!
Just to clarify for everyone - new and old to this - this only covers NLS games (and the play-offs if we get there). Feel free to predict cup games if you like, but they won't count for the table.
New rule from 10th January. If you are posting a prediction within two hours of kick off, please also post the actual time of your prediction. When I come to include late predictions after the game the time of posting is not always displayed accurately by the software.
Updated following the Aveley game.
Well, well, well. They say it's a funny old game and it's never over until it's over, and this pairing in a sense had it all. Stones had home advantage against a team that not only had done the league double over us, they had also kept clean sheets in both games, so when they went ahead, they must have thought that fate was smiling upon them once again. This Stones side however has been forged in the heat of battle under the gaze of the football watching nation and the experience of playing those cup games on live tv in front of comparatively huge crowds seems to have given us a new resilience when the chips are down.
Practically everyone was either super-optimistic (not on a jdl level obvs) and predicted the win, but daveu picked up the full five points to almost secure the title for this season by opening up an eight point lead at the top. Others securing five points were bear5, ade and Raymondo316. I also picked up five points to become the latest to join the centurion club just as it became a bit meh.
So on to Worthing we go. In the two games earlier in the season they produced two home wins (one each), ten goals (5 each), ten yellow cards (four for us), two red cards (one each), so probably not a quiet game ahead. Hopefully Bivesh will stay on the pitch for longer than the 33 minutes he managed last time. I didn't realise at the time - better things to worry about then clearly - but the referee who sent Bivesh off was the idiot assistant ref who elbowed that Liverpool player so at least with the PGMOL closing ranks he'll be safely out of the way in the PL again.
New entrants are still welcome.
