Well, now we know exactly where our budget is for next season - not enough to hold on to decent NL standard players...
OK, so it's 'only' the NS, so who needs NL standard players? But I wonder if Yeovil, Torquay, Darts (if they don't go up), Havant & Waterlooville, etc are also thinking that...

I suspect he wants to keep his options open in case an NL club wants him, and who can blame him.

He is still a relatively young lad and he has just proved he is a good player at NL level, so why would he want to drop down? At this stage of his career it would not make any sense. He wants his career to be going forwards, not backwards.

I like Shonibare and am slightly disappointed he hasn't signed but he obviously has every right to look for something else.
However, I wouldn't be suprised if he eventually ends up in the NLS with us or someone else.

Just because he doesn't want to commit just now doesn't mean it's the end of his journey with the club.

George and the club seemed pretty clinical in booting him out rather than waiting for him to not find anything better.

It may be that they want to get a decent squad assembled sooner rather than later. We have been a bit slow to get new players signed up in the past. That said a lot of contracts appear to run to the end of May, so no telling who might be available. Chances are though, that after this disaster of a season, George only wants to keep players who are both good enough and proud enough to wear the shirt. Let's face it, he probably can't wait to get rid of plenty.
