Brilliant post and spot on. Good summary of a nightmare season. If what I was told last night is true there are bigger problems ahead, that is that the main sponsor is pulling the plug ( not Manchett) . The board have been suspiciously quiet of late.. I suspect the naming rights for the ground are due for renewal so the club are looking for a new sponsor. I doubt Gallagher wants to carry on indefinitely, and I believe he's more into rugby anyway.

Its not like you to be so wide of the mark daveu !
The naming rights to the stadium was renewed by the Gallagher Group in 2022 and the contract now extends to 2032.

So its not Gallagher and its not the Manchett Group. The Shepherd Neame sponsorship extends to 2024 so that only leaves the Genco Group as ine of the club's main sponsors

Well 'overthehill' is it Genco who is not renewing its sponsorship contract ? When does the existing contract expire ? Will the stand be re-named ? What is this going to cost the club ?

A wake up call for the amber tinted anti moaning brigade? No doubting last season was brilliant and probably inflated more than a few expectations. More pragmatic folk would have been happy with avoiding relegation, me included. However, not sure many thought the wheels would come off all around the club in the way they have so simply saying it will all be alright if we stop moaning is burying your head under a pillow. These things soon generate a momentum all of their own and, for me, the club need to start coming clean over what is happening or both fans and investors will vote with their feet.

I was only told that PG was pulling out, whether his deal has a 2-way clause I do not know, just saying what I was told. But since the takeover over fell through apart from Terry saying we want to stay in the league, there has been no club statement..

What do you nean come clean ?
What is it you dont know that you think you have a right to know ?
Or are you just whistling in the wind.
Listening to Goeorge's latest interview guves some insight into his thinking.
Just feels you are moaning cause youve got nothing better to do.
If you want to carry on moaning, moaning, moaning; give it some more.

I guess football isn't immune from the current 'cost of living crisis'. Maybe we have to accept that the next few seasons aren't going to be too easy? If there's one thing we've learnt since 2012, it's that you need money to get into the NL and stay there.
But, if it comes down to having a part-time team of 'local' players, as long as they play decent football and get the punters back in, it wouldn't exactly be a disaster.

Yes but ‘cost of living’ affects all clubs equally. Are we saying that we cannot compete with Wealdstone, Maidenhead, Bromley, Altrincham et al? If so the problem is not finance as they have lower gates. Unless of course ever other team apart from us in the NL has sugar daddies.

If so the problem is not finance as they have lower gates. Unless of course ever other team apart from us in the NL has sugar daddies. We can compete with these clubs but we didn't. We cocked it up. We assembled a sub-standard squad for this league, with couple of long terms injuries that drained the budget, and more injuries that were not replaceable due to lack of budget, with questionable management in terms in pre-game, in-game and recruitment (although see already mentioned mitigating factors for this). It's sport. the aforementioned clubs seem to be very well run - I am not going to check their accounts, google for their budgets or their ownership model - but from the outside looking in, they are run well from top to bottom. People do seem to be reading into everything as some indictment against the club and owners. The death knell for the season was probably sounding when we saw so many fringe players from last season signing up. Not blaming Hak completely for this as I am not sure we had the structure in place to buy 10 new players at the money we probably had that Hak could be confident would be better than we already had. I wish Terry had not said his famous "10th" speech. If he had said this season would be a slog and we would be pleased to finish a point above relegation, then a) he would look a lot less stupid and b) some fans would have likely been more forgiving of losing every week. The Glory Boys on FB would have still been complaining though.

There probably needs to be a rethink about how the club is run on a day to day basis at the very top. We seem to be in need of better comms, ticketing, scouting etc. It sometimes feels somewhat amateurish.
