David Sadler, Man U and England Jimmy McMullan, Man City and captain of Scotland. Perhaps both would need Tardis to enable them to play today.

OK, I've clubbed together a 'Went-on-to-bigger-and-better-things XI' (and added Sandford as keeper because, well, why not). Where would this made up team finish in this seasons National League?
G: Ryan Sandford
D: Reece Hall Johnson Chris Smalling Josh Hare Michee Efete
M: Harry Phipps Ellis Iandolo Jack Powell
A: Mitch Pinnock Joe Pigott Blair Turgott

I notice one Harry Phipps also in the England non-league team with Regan Booty...............remember him? Another one that got away from us and onto bigger and better things elsewhere, like, say Kaiyne Woolery or Saidou Khan. Any others that fit this category that we remember and wish we still had? How far do you want to go back ?

Keeper wise, I'd pick Grant Smith over Sandford.

Can we include the ones that got away following the collapse of the club? If so then I vote for Noel Ashford who went off to Dagenham and Redbridge I think.

Dean Rance is another option in midfield, we had him on loan back when we were playing at Ashford.

I looked up Luke Rooney and was horrified to learn he is playing for Stansfeld. The stand out team for thuggery, in all my Maidstone-watching days. Anyone who witnessed our last ever county league game (and first ever at Sittingbourne - although technically the away side) will know what I mean.

Keeper wise, I'd pick Grant Smith over Sandford. Didn't impress me when we had him on loan. Maybe he just didn't want to be here.

I think quite a few will get away now there is nothing to play for this season. Expect an exodus over the next few months.
We really must sort it out with Alan Manchett and get back on track with a new owner and a new start.
Too much uncertainty and. I know can blame players for seeking stability elsewhere.
Good to see Dom back and playing his socks off. A very likeable player.

A little dicky bird told me the reason Alan Manchett pulled out is because of the league and FA'S due diligence test for new owners does not accept people that have been insolvent/bankrupt in the dim distant past.

The season is over now, so the club might as well save a bit of money by letting some players leave early, who won't be here next season anyway. I'm sure Barham, Booty and others would jump at the chance of leaving now and getting sorted out for next season.
