With Clovis and Lewis Knight both earning £800 p/w it's easy to see why we're over budget with those two hardly being 'good value'. The fact they were both very early signings has probably lead them to be on an inflated wage but for the players they are it still seems a lot, especially when you consider players like Alex Wynter would have been on the same if not less in the NL. Maybe it's not just the budget that's the issue but also how it's being spent.

Guess we'll have to watch and wait as to how the rest of the season pans out and should we maintain a mostly fit squad, then the play offs are still within reach. However, McClure moving on is perhaps an early sign to expect a squad of part timers next season. Doesn't mean we can't mount another promotion challenge, because we did it with part timers last time. What it does do is underline the fact that without extra financial backing, Maidstone United has pretty much found its level as a well supported NLS club that can enjoy a cup run and flirt with promotion, but is not going to mount another charge up the leagues anytime soon. Nothing to be ashamed of, it's football. Understandable flurry of panicky button posts, and I have sympathy with all of them - especially the comment about us still suffering the outfall from Jays exit! Money or not, I think MM is crazy going to Gloucester, its a shame we couldn't keep him, and a loss to see him go, whether he cooled or not, but we have to move on. NLS isn't the end of the world for us, and we may have to get used to it for a bit but surely if that's so we will HAVE to go back to being Part-Time? This year and a narrow scrape through the back door into NL is still possible, but if we are in NLS next year it must be time for a complete rethink surely?

No. If the club maintains its ambitions to be pushing for promotion or even thereabouts, then full time will continue. If you want a part club with part time ambitions, try Tonbridge, nothing wrong with that if that's what you want. In the meantime Hakan hints at a couple of possible arrivals over the next week or so. Fingers crossed it works out

Nothing I can see on their official site or social media. Do they have the internet in Gloucestershire?

Nothing I can see on their official site or social media. Do they have the internet in Gloucestershire? KOL says it will be announced Thursday after his contract here expires.

Are players paid for the whole year or just the season?
Quite a difference, when you work it out!

I last had a salary over 10 years ago, so I've lost touch with who gets paid what, but I'd guess you'd need a bit more than that coming in to feed a mortgage and a family.

Just because McClure is getting more money at Gloucester DOES NOT mean their budget is higher than ours.

Just because McClure is getting more money at Gloucester DOES NOT mean their budget is higher than ours. True. But it does rather suggest that someone is injecting money into the club. Which is clearly BAD. There's no way we'd do that if we found ourselves near the relegatiion zone half way through the season...

Why is everyone worried on this thread.
I thought MM whilst initially very good up to the Oxford City game has plateaued since.
After that game he was injured , has lost his strength and wasn't giving the same value to the team.
Maybe management sees him the way I have and have a better proposition over the hill.

Whatever the reason for him going to Gloucester really is irrlevant, I would rather have a squad of players with a genuine desire to play for the club because they want to not because it,s the best paid club they can get. Over the years we have had more than enough players motivated purely by money an nothing else.

The report mentioned that the manager is his mate. Must have something to do with it.

Even at this level most of them are in it for the money.
