I hope, of course, that I am eating these words with lashings of Ginger Beer and humble pie come April! Not Ginger Beer in Lashings. I hope Quite - David Folb is not the investor we need; that would be even more of a circus, judging by his cricket teams.

In the short term, the biggest investor could be the third round of the cup. Yes, it's unlikely we'll make it but a lucky set-piece, some help from the woodwork and officials and massive overconfidence from Blackpool could make it a reality. I think I read that Sutton made around 900k from their cup run a couple of years ago. We probably won't make that amount even against a top Premier league side but it might still provide a sufficient return to allow for some more development on and off the pitch.

Crawley's promotion to the EFL was almost entirely funded by an FA Cup tie away at ManU, and Sutton's chance against the Premier League big boys was unfortunately at Gander Green Lane. How much more would they have made had that game been at The Emirates.

Our best hope is that Gary Johnson takes over from Simon Grayson as manager and goes for the hat trick

Sutton United, correct me if I've remembered it badly, but didn't they beat Leeds (at home) in round four and then lost to Arsenal at home in Round 5 and so, even though they didn't get the big crowd of an away fixture, they made over a million pounds from that cup run.

Very probably and more than that, they paid for new changing rooms.

I looked that up - what happened was, Arsenal gave Sutton a 50K gift to build two academy classrooms but that turned out to be enough to refurbish the changing rooms as well.

Terry and Oliver could probabaly find the money very quickly to finish the stadium. But they're at that stage in the ownership cycle when they want to reduce their exposure, not suddenly ramp it up. The question is the same for most clubs and the dilemma faced by our previous owners, is there anyone out there who wants to build a stadium for them? I doubt there is.

This is true. Playing that day was a second/third string side including two young lads in particular who opinion up here says should never have been near the pitch. They were the sons of the football agent Willie Mackay, one of whom has been implicated in the tragic Emiliano Sala flight that was lost in the Channel last season. The management at Leeds at the time was undoubtedly being influenced from beyond the dressing room.

Yes, a rather tantalising statement from Oliver.

Paul Scally has been talking about investors for decades. I'll believe it when I see it. There is a business community in Maidstone who get involved with us and K Sports. If there are any eccentric millionaires wanting to have some fun, let's hope they come forward.
