So, missed out on a trip to Reading in R3. Boring. We've been there*, done that, had the replay !
* Yes I realise that "there" was Elm Park and not at Reading's current home.

So, missed out on a trip to Reading in R3. Royalstone will be gutted Rather relieved actually. Much as I'd have loved to see the stones in round 3 as I mentioned in the Reading FC thread this fixture was hard enough for me all those years ago and I probably wouldn't attend if it were to happen again.

At least we didn't do a Solihull. 3-0 at home, with 14 mins to go v Rotherham, they lost 4-3. Now that is a bit of a pisser.

You wouldn't have gone, what!!!!!! You would've missed out on your chance to buy one of them half and half scarves.

Rather like our disastrous failure to close out the game in the FA Cup away to Weymouth in 1982 when we were 3 - 1 up with 20 minutes to play. That is the result which still hurts the most in my Maidstone career (it took over 30 years before I was prepared to venture back into Dorset), closely followed by losing 3 -1 away to Chesham in 1979.

We all carry scars like that - the older you are, the more there are. But just remember how it felt when Worgs saved that penalty, or when we were 1 up at Watford - or beating Gills, yet again!

I was worrying about Stones getting through and potentially getting drawn against Leeds. The only positives I could see if Leeds were drawn at home would have been a decent pay day for the club and I'd have been able to pick up a half and half scarf

See Blackpool sacked their manager today after the Gills 'lucky' 94th minute winner against them yesterday and just one win in their last 12 games.
Did wonder if that win was against us. If anyone else was wondering the same, it wasn't. We were 14 games ago. They won their next and then just one more since.

On a related point - is the recent decline of Fylde (who were on the verge of promotion to the EFL just as season ago) linked to the fact that Blackpool is now Oyston-free - has the money man switched to the bigger club now he can?

Yeah the money man wanted in at Blackpool, so i think the investment slowed up, not sure if he has fully gone or is trying to untangle himself from Fylde so he can jump in with Blackpool as he did try and buy pool from the oystons but they were c words (the oystons that is). plus wasn't Dave chalinor the manager and didn't he go to Hartlepool, it's about 6 in the morning and I've had no sleep so this might be complete tosh. Danny Rowe is still there tough the goal scoring machine up front.

So, it's goodbye Fylde, by the sound of it. Poor bloody fans - a few years of fantasy, then the money man pisses off and it's back down to the small club non-league grind.
Still, at least they got a new ground out of it - and they didn't have to wait 20 years for theirs!
I wonder if it would have been different if they had got promoted last season? Personally, I'd have stuck with the newly promoted club rather than switch to a basket case like Blackpool. But I dare say he would still have followed the big club/money scent, and left Fylde to survive as best they can.
These money men are mostly just in it for themselves. Tamplin was an extreme case, but they're generally pretty much the same. We are very lucky to have T & O.
