Did anyone else get the superb "Dead and Bury'd" email blog by Oliver Ash?
A Regionalised EFL2 North and EFL2 South made up of current EFL2 and NL, presumably fed by NLS and NLN, is a great idea.
He also waves the flag again for non-grass pitches, and has a solid argument on pay caps with French rugby as a great example as how football should be run.
What astute owners we have!

You mean he is once again trying to flog 3G pitches to the dead horse that is the EFL. NEVER HAPPEN EVER !

You disappoint me Sword, as an intelligent man with an interest in history, you should know that many battles have been won when all seemed lost. However, through a never say die attitude things have changed! Are you suggesting that Oliver should roll over when we know the ‘business model’ adopted by our owners not only saved us from going bust again but given us ‘old 300 club’ a club to support at a level we could only dream out, and a stadium in our town! Now there’s 2000 of us! Just because it’s unlikely doesn’t mean we should give up, there are loads of ‘Burys’ out there needing another form of income! Well done Oliver for trying As for regional lower leagues it’s a no brainier but won’t be excepted by the idiots that run football clubs, every Saturday football fans lose their Weekend by travelling north to south and south to north often waving at each other as coaches pass in opposite directions, total madness! I used to go to every game home and away, now I select away games because I can’t justify 10 plus hours travelling for 90mins football!

Sorry to disappoint you Timbo whereas I agree with all the rest of it ,the regionalisation of the leagues the fact is Bury didnt go tits up because of their playing surface and any other club in financial trouble is due to poor management at board level not whether they play on grass or not. The prima Donna's of the Premier League have made it clear there is no room for artificial surfaces in English football and like it or not the EFL will bow down to the opinion of the money bags clubs. 3G or 4G will never be accepted in the EFL and the sooner you and Oliver realise this the better. As much as I admire Oliver he is banging his head against a massive brick wall.

Many a battle won against the odds? ,the majority of this country voted for Brexit but the sad minority will end up winning is this what you mean Timbo. I await vitriolic incoming that is definitely more forthcoming than a vote to accept 3G surfaces.

Can anyone old enough to remember tell me why the old division 3 south and division 3 north system was abolished? I don't know how true it is but a lot of older Reading fans including my late father have told me that there were several seasons when RFC were heading for promotion to division 2 but used to fade at the end of the season possibly because they would lose money from the extra travelling and less local derbies that promotion would mean.
To me more regionalised football makes total sense.

I used ‘Burys’ not Bury, that’s not to go all NWS, I appreciate that the Bury situation was down to mismanagement, but until clubs can maximise their income even well run lower league clubs will struggle with the current expectations of fans Even we had posts from supporters this close season disappointed with the money our owners made available As an old school supporter I travelled to Ashford expecting to be watching my last Maidstone game again! Until Bill introduced me to Oliver and Terry, from that moment things started to go up, even taking on board last season, we are so much better off than we were! Without the 3G, there would be no Oliver and Terry, no Gallagher Stadium, no Jay Saunders 3 in 4, no Frannie Collin winner against Stevenage and no fantastic times these past 6 or 7 years! What might 3G have done for other clubs? For the record I prefer grass, but with grass I wouldn’t have enjoyed the above!

I am not disagreeing with you Tim ,3G has done wonders for us as has Oliver and Terry and it's doing the same at many other clubs but the clubs that matter have already agreed to dig up the 3G and lay grass to progress whereas we will not unless there is a change of mind in the distant future.

Problem is the clubs prepared ‘to dig my up’ are forgetting why they installed them in the first place, chasing a dream and probably eddying up chasing a dream that can’t happen! Knowing that we are where we are due to the 4G model, if our owners stated they were going to ‘rip up our 3 G’ I’d be very concerned

Yes and 35% voted to remain whilst 28% couldnt be arsed to vote so to my somewhat feeble mind 37% is classed as a majority.

I've always advocated joining the 2nd division and National league to make 2 regional divisions, got to be better for clubs and supporters alike. No other country in Europe has more than 3 national leagues (generally 2), and yet here we are with 5, but hey common sense and football administration not normally good bed fellows.
