Make life interesting if they were put in Isthmian North (I know there's no chance of that!) That's about where Bury Town (not to be confused with Bury, yorkshirestone) were, the last time I looked... Good point. Well presented! Happily corrected

Talking of Bury. I might have imagined it, but wasn't there some problems for Bury in the 70s where, for some reason, they were going to be renamed Manchester North End, or something like that? Not sure why, but I seem to recall that there was uproar from the supporters, and the name Bury was retained.

I am sure I have read in one of the Gone but not forgotten there was a club called Manchester North End in the Lancashire Combination prior to WW2.

Has any other team that’s gone bust ever started again as low down as us??? I don't think any club has dropped as many divisions (I can't be bothered to count), but I'm happy to be proved wrong. I'm sure some Southern / Isthmian / Northern Premier League clubs have started again at a similar level (my questionable memory includes RS Southampton, Colne Dynamos and South Liverpool among them).

Going by posts I've seen on another forum that Benwell fella plans to do an MK Dons. ''It looks like a plot has been uncovered involving Forever Bury (official fan club) and 1 Robert Benwell to steal a club from a higher non league and "franchise" it to Gigg Lane. Alfreton Town appear to be in the frame, if so my sincere apologies, I would not wish our shit situation on ANY other club (even Noblot) The Phoenix group have wind of this and it will NOT be allowed to happen. I hope to hell this is false news but the sources say otherwise and FB and Benwell have called a public meeting on the 19TH, they can expect a shit storm and pitchforks are at the ready.''

Latest news from the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51584394 is that Bury have applied to join at the 10th tier (higher than we did) in the NW Counties League. Good luck to them I say!

They're going to need it - they lost their ground as well. Can they do an AFC Wimbledon? I suspect they'll be lucky to even do a Maidstone Utd.
