Pudding from Latin, French or Germamic roots Dinner from French or Latin roots Tea from Chinese roots via Dutch Rule Britannia Get back on your own boring waffle thread NWS don’t smart arse this one it’s supposed to be light hearted fun relief as an antidote to yours. Go and make yourself cheese on toast or crumpets with country life and watch some Dads Army and get British! I was merely replying to your light hearted pro-britain post in similarly jestful fashion. You seem stressed

Not below the belt, but bang on target I'd say! Sorry, haven't got any facts to back that up though, just observations, so ignore me. Getting back to good old British Tucker who remembers Quince Jam? Quince Jam Tart with Angel Delight after some lovely Spam fritters for Tea. Yummee! nws is a real talent - he manages to annoy both you, who holds very different political views as him, AND me, who holds (pretty much) the same political views as him!! There and you have spent ages claiming different. I knew the three of you would eventially start slagging while trying to pretend i am ruining your 'hilarious' thread

Does anybody remember Ice Magic? That 'sauce' that would freeze when put on top of ice cream?
And I liked Findus Crispy Pancakes.

Dont knock it till you've tried it, you'll be surprised. Wrong flavour AND adulteration! Adding natural food to whip??? Whatever next?!

Supernoodles, anybody? Cadbury's Smash. Zoom lollies. My (Hungarian) wife is of the opinion that if you want one simple thing that sums up just how weird the English are, it is Smash. I was quite glad she didn't nominate me!

Smash were there adverts not the finest ever to grace our televisions It is also a useful product offering a quick & gluten free way of thickening sauces and invaluable in the making of Gnocchi Piedmontaise. (cue NWS telling us all the origins of this dish)

(cue NWS telling us all the origins of this dish) It may be OK for those things but as instant mash it's horrible.

There were other instant potato products available some far worse then others. But we always think of Smash first, But that's the power of advertising

I know I've not been invited, and indeed, I've not even met most of you, but I would probably decline an (albeit very kind) invitation to dinner.
I am also aware that I have not set the bar that high either.
