Great performance. Always looked like one goal would decide it, and luckily (and deservedly) it went our way. Big George really is the kind of player we were missing last season. Great to see him come over to the Stones fans, beating his chest and shaking hands with people. George is a great leader, but almost the whole team came over to high five the Stones faithful at the end, which was brilliant...…..much better team/fans bonding than last year. I guess with Clovis because I expected so much more in creativity from him given his CV that I didn't see clearly enough the excellent spoiler role that the Hamlet saw him perform so well....which I, with hindsight, now see where they were coming from, so maybe that's his place in this team, in which case, game on! I think McClure should have gone off much sooner for Ibby as he was off the pace due to the head injury and being marked out of the game, but hey-ho it all came good in the end and as for "rowdy" I think some of the richer Hamlet supporters from the ever-so posh Dulwich Village just weren't use to some of the colourful language, bless them! I'm sure the more down to earth Hamlet faithful from East Dulwich didn't mind! Lewis Knight stood in brilliantly for Ryan, but my MoM was Noah Chesmain, who I really, really like and is a real developing prospect. A great night and really special to hear the stones faithful still singing as we left the ground. Long may it continue!

Chesmain also looks like he is the go to player for direct free kicks as he has a more than decent shot in him, as well as a reasonable long throw. Overall, set pieces still work in progress, but once we get good at those too, we could become a real force this season.

After last night I think we are a top 4 club and although I am not in a hurry to go back up I would be disappointed if this squad doesnt make the playoffs. Wealdstone maybe setting the pace at 5he moment, and deservedly so,but I think by xmas it will be a lot closer. I think though a decision has to be made now ,do we want mega cup runs or do we want to go up as in my opinion clubs rarely achieve both.

Top entertainment last night, and not just from the Stones. A highlight was the Dulwich supporter of mature years who started up in the second half with shouts like "come on Dulwich, bring your talent, this lot are just a bunch of thugs", and similar choice epithets...ironic given that McClure got an elbow in the face from a Dulwich player. This went on for a bit and he also began to engage with Stones supporters on the subject of what a shower our team were in his opinion.
He was just building up a head of steam when the substitution came. This was met with a cry of "what's this then, one thug off and another thug on?". He's is reveling in what he no doubt imagines to be the mother of all witticisms when Akanbi scores. Queue gales of Stones laughter among the goal celebrations, all aimed at said gent. Oddly enough he didn't see the funny side.

We do seem to be a bit more robust this season, though a curious thing is that referees are thus far allowing it. Contrast that with last season, when our players were regularly getting fouled all over the park, but often ended up penalised for it. Different standards in NLS? Not that I'm complaining, mind.

I understand your thinking and wouldn't be unhappy with that kind of season this year (better than the last few years!), but the danger is that our better players (Cole, Justin, Chesmain, even George?) may not stick around for another NLS season, and didn't JS2 say he would want to hand over to someone else as well? Would that be Hak on his own? Hmmmm. Lets go all out for promotion this year, and whatever happens, enjoy the ride. The Chelmsford and Dulwich games have shown what's possible, which I didn't think was possible in the summer or in PSF, and clearly JS2 and Hak are being quite "focussed" in keeping the team performing at that kind of level, so there pre-season talk of going for the NL is starting to look more possible. I just hope I don't have eat these words for Christmas dinner! COYS!

We've got a reasonable record in playoffs, and top 7 looks very realistic even if 1st currently doesn't... all nicer options than the last couple of years anyway.
