An interesting article and a reminder that he is still getting back up to speed at this level. Hopefully those among us who are still not sure about him yet will allow for that. We've let a lot of players go in recent years because of indifferent performances, and they've then gone on to do very well elsewhere. It's not easy to be patient but sometimes it can definitely be worth it.

I take on board what you say, but I also think a good number of those that we parted with (especially last season) we were absolutely right to let go and where they ended up proved that. Even those that have remained at NL level like Quigley and Mullins - absolute donkeys who I wouldn’t want let loose in a Stones shirt even at NLS level. Fortunately RJ definitely is NOT in that category !!

I had some of Jay's players from before that in mind. Quigley and Mullins were dreadful.

For me, Johnson has all the attributes to do well in this league. He has pace, especially over shorter distances, with a safety first approach to defending - in other words, get the ball clear with no messing about. May not create much, but compared to last season, who cares.

I like him, lots of good qualities you want in a defender.
It seems he’s always busting to get to 100% to compete and treats each game like a cup final so to speak, but that isn’t a bad thing as I’d rather have that than a lazy CB who thinks they are better than what they are

His hunger is excellent

Note the link to the piece about our three missing forwards too. Jake due to restart training next week, and could be on as a sub, and the other two back in training the week after. Don't want to go all DaveU, but, as we're not doing bad without any real strikers, we should really pick up in September, with all three back. After the last couple of seasons, I'd forgotten what feeling positive was like!
