Not exactly uncommon for players to argue over penalties. The best I've seen is DiCanio wresting the ball out of (I think) Lampard's hands as he was about to place the ball! Easy enough to avoid though - make it clear to players who the nominated pen taker is, and the captain ensures the right player takes it. Surely this is one of the (few?) justifications for having a team captain? After all, there's not much the manager can do stuck in the technical area. Indeed. That's my point. Why did it have to go public and not have been sorted on the pitch or from the dug out? Lets put it down to the team not knowing each other yet Not knowing each other shouldn't come into it. Manager makes it clear who takes pens, captain ensures it happens. Unless of course they don't know each other to the extent that they can't remember each others names!

didn't a similar thing happen a few seasons ago at the gallagher?
somebody (was it Luke Rooney?) took the ball off the regular penalty taker - can't even remember if the penalty was converted.

Seen it a few times at JWW - but, curiously, don't remember it happening at LR or Darftord. What does the manager do, if the wrong player insists on taking the pen, but then converts?

Something similar happened at the Gallagher just two weeks ago in the friendly v Southend kyei and amaluzor raced about 40 yards after the ball to see who would take it. A bit of a tantrum by kyei as amaluzor got the ball and took the pen.

Same happened at Herne Bay too.
A fine line between wanting to score and going against the grain.
I expect it has been noticed and will be dealt with.
We seem to be a team that will get many penalties.

Yes, and he took that one and scored. He was very patient with Rooney who wanted the ball NOW or he was taking it home.
