The continual use of the word "investment" always raises a wry smile with me. The need for investment is often mentioned in association with football clubs, not just the Stones, and what is meant is nothing like investment. What we all mean is someone to chuck their money away. Anyway, I'm off to invest my money in the 2.30 at Kempton. I reckon I've got more chance of seeing a return than if I put money into a football club Your in big trouble with your hopes in the 2.30 at Kempton, theres no racing there today my old fruit.

I wonder if some of you have even read the blog. Oliver stated quite clearly: a. "we can therefore target the play-offs this season as a realistic ambition" b. "I confirm we would be absolutely delighted if the club could secure promotion back to the NL" So much for all the doom mongers among you wittering on about how we can't afford/don't want promotion. Dave it causes concerns when the two owners often make contrasting statements. TC. has stated in the past that we would have a big budget for this coming season an extra money would be available for special quality players. Yet this has been not quite true. TC stated to me that the club cannot afford to play in the NL his actual words were it would be better for the club to stay in the NLS for 3-4 seasons an rebuild the bank account, then go for promotion. Personally I thought his comment was wrong an told him so, as far as I,m concerned every club has fans that dream that each season will be the special season when there club does well wins a promotion or goes on an incredible cup run. If fans cannot dream then what is the point of going along week in week out? Speaking as a fan i go along every week to meet up with my mates for a pre match pint and go and watch my football team hopefully win an entertaining game.Every team has a comfortable level and last year we were above that.Everyone should remember that a few years ago we didnt actually have a viable football club and we had to travel to Sittingbourne/Ashford to watch a team cobbled together on a shoe string. If the choice is between Oliver and Terry or a dodgy Businessman/Woman i will settle for playing in the division we are currently in rather than face another season like the last one which by any yardstick was not much fun

Oliver is a decent guy and has done wonders for the club albeit one disastrous footballing appointment (and maybe one unwise sacking?) which I’m sure haunts him more than it does us as it was his money the clown burned.
Terry also has been great for the club albeit has a bad habit of opening his mouth before putting his brain into gear!
None of us are perfect - apart from nws and daveu who seem to be both on egofests right now😊 - and I would back Oliver and Terry all the way over a mad Glenn or a dodgy Doctor.
COYS!

Maybe one unwise sacking ? You are sitting on the fence. Make your mind up oldboy !
There's no need to be so disrespectful to Terry Casey either.
Along with Oliver he has ploughed money into the club, given loads of his personal time and done wonders over the past few seasons.

Terry speaks like a fan rather than an owner which sometimes means he says the wrong things but they come from a good place!

Because every fan has dreams of there club doing bigger an better things. If your happy playing in the same league every year an never wanting promotion then I will never understand that no matter how well it,s explained to me. I will always be a stones fan no matter what league they play in, but I always dream that every season we will improve and every FA Cup game we end up playing a "big " club away from home an on TV.

"a bad habit of opening his mouth without putting his brain in gear" That is not a compliment ! On occasions he may well have exaggerated or been a shade ambitious with a statement, but personally I like Terry, an owner and genuine supporter who deserves credit for everything he has done for the club.

Last year I only saw 8 away games, this year I hope to see all but 2. Should we get promoted to the football league the chances are that I will not be able to watch home games either as the admission prices are ridiculous. So I ask you jakeyboi what good is success to people like me when success means I cannot afford to watch them?

Where is this blog? I've not had an email and I can't see it on the OS.
Also, anyone else getting this annoying 3 ad whenever they look at this site? It doesn't so much pop up as take over completely, and is a bugger to get out of. Might just be something that we're only getting over here? But it's a complete PAIN.

Sword you an I are the same in regards to not being able to work on medical grounds for whatever reasons, and yes I know exactly the cost involved in travelling away with your club, last season I think I missed two away games. I only have to pay for fuel as I use my own car to get to an from games which is mainly due to my illness. If the club was to make it to the football league one would hope they would offer the same benefits that other league clubs offer to disabled supporters, this I guess is something we would have to discuss with the club once we knew how many disabled fans we have in total.

Thanks Dave. Very honest and clear statement from Oliver, and pretty much in line with what most of us thought. NL was a step too far, too soon, and we paid a heavy price. Now we have to get back to basics, rebuild and reastablish ourselves, with a more realistic view of the club and it's prospects. And get back to enjoying our football!
