Eight August fixtures will give a good indication for the whole season.
3rd. Weymouth (home).
6th. Welling (away).
10th. Hungerford (away).
13th. Eastbourne (home).
17th. Slough (home).
24th. Concord (away).
26th. Chelmsford (home).
31st. Wealdstone (away).
Possible advantage for full time squads?

I reckon we will do ok but there’s some toughees and some banana skins in that lot. We can but hope! COYS!

Add on Dulwich on 3/9 and Havant on 10/9 to get ten matches in little more than five weeks.

If we are looking for a mid-table finish then we need at least 10 points from the 8 August matches, anything less will result in panic on this forum.

Not losing at home would be a start. Winning at least three even better!

I'm especially looking forward to Hungerford ( Away ). Easy journey to plan, new ground ( for me anyway ) not sure if they will be ready for the MUFC travelling army.....

Only just realised that I didn't even know where Hungerford was! Quite a long trip by NS standards, but it sounds quite nice on Wikipedia. Rather strangely, if you search for it, you get Hungary first - which is where I'm writing this. Could this be an omen??

Nice ground but be aware that when I was there around ten years ago I found the town and ground very expensive with the average price of a beer around £4.50 so it wouldn't surprise me if its well over £5 by now. As for being ready for the barmy army well they coped easily with 400 Whitley Bay fans.

And he went ga-ga at the end. A few years ago they renamed one of the big Budapest stadiums in his honour and wheeled him out for the TV cameras, but he clearly didn't know where he was or who all these people were. Very, very sad.

However I have a quick reply for you ... If you are writing this from Hungary as you claim ... And I believe you ! ... Please do us all a favour and an omen by staying there ! In true Maidstone United fashion , I say " C'mon you Stones!"

Whoever the opposition is, to win convincingly and your star man bag goals has to be good going into this crucial first month. We won’t win every game but I think we will come out of August with more than mid table. COYS!

It's amazing the difference a couple of good friendly performances make. Looking at that list, they're not the full time favourites; dare one say "must win" games?
