Tamplin seems at best a dubious eccentric and at worst somebody operating on the fringes of the law. Not who you'd want running your local football club, especially as it all for self glorification and not to benefit the community. On this basis, he's more suited to becoming an MP...

Chairmen come and go. If he leaves Romford in a better condition than he found them (like he seems to have done with Billericay), he will be a hero. Did he really leave Billericay in a better position?? crowds didn't really improve a great deal Paying wages to players which was not sustainable A number of them players will be under contract and difficult to move on. Strongly rumoured to have orchestrated the damage to the pitch etc. Is known for creating companies raking up a lot of debt then folding the companies leaving other companies owed thousands that they'll never see. We might not see any news of how good/bad he left Billericay until things get found out down the road. He certainly spent quite a lot on upgrading the ground. Whether or not that was necessary remains to be seen. If they drop back into the Isthmian league, possibly not, but it's not detrimental to them. Also seems willing to pay off some of the expensive signings so as long as he doesn't expect to recoup his losses I can't see how he's left them any worse off.

No information specific to Billericay but it's not unheard of for 'rich owners' to be financially savvy, with their own money, and fund some of the investments with commercial loans from financial organisations against the club's assets.
Their personal investment can then be 'restricted' to servicing the interest on the debt.
Does allow them to walk away leaving the club financially worse off despite the apparent structural investment.

Here we go a genuine question for everyone on the forum. Does anyone apart from JDL truly give a f**k? Actually, I do. I want all non league clubs to flourish (especially those in Kent). They don't, it tends to be cyclical, some good times, more bad times, but non league is a life style which should be encouraged, for the benefit of clubs' supporters. We are an eccentric band, and we don't want to become corporate playthings. But if Tamplin did leave Billericay better off, I'm pleased for their fans. As for Tamplin himself, it makes amusing reading!

My only criticism of Tamplin is now he affects clubs like Maidstone, by artificially inflating wages. Although many of his signings seem to come from a different player pool than the rest.

Maybe he will merge them with Southend who already appear to be in troubles of their own - and apparantly are selling their stadium. Essex super club Billericay, Aveley, Southend, Thurrock And Romford Daggers... (yes I know I've done that gag before, but it seems closer to the truth now...)

If we are going to have an Essex super club lets start at the beginning -- Leytonstone - Ilford - Walthamstow Avenue - Redbridge Forrest - Dagenham - and so on and so on

But that would just make LIWARFD. Is there not already a club with this name playing in the Welsh League ?

Here we go a genuine question for everyone on the forum. Does anyone apart from JDL truly give a f**k? Several dozen posts on the subject suggests they do. Up until this moment, how many of us were aware of Romford's current plight, despite its similarity to our own?
