So Turgott didn’t impress? 😳 Good question.
I'd probably say he didn't from whenever he got injured in October onwards.
Did more in in that 3 months then the rest of the team did for the whole season though. Even when he was trying to get back up to speed after bad injury was no worse than the rest of them.

Tbf he was mucked about last season. Michael Phillips is CM not a FB. It would be great to see him sign up but maybe John Still not too bothered ? Can’t understand why JS2 might not be “bothered”. The squad he has had put together is promising but not great and MP would be one of the stronger signings in the mix. Why hesitate? Unless of course young Michael upset Hak or John in some way that we don’t know of!

Even if this is the case then so what, it’s about getting the strongest team possible.

We can all read between the lines but maybe we not getting the same messages. Michael Phillips is available and I reckon 90% of supporters would like to see him back. So either John Still doesn't rate him very much. Or Phiilips is just too expensive, in which case that the wages budget has been slashed rather than trimmed.

This does look to be a bit of a last minute change of heart from Phillips after not getting any other offers. I'd still have him back like a shot, but let's not carried away with the passion and loyalty angle. Players are passionate and loyal when it suits them, Stewart Lewis being a classic example, passionate and loyal to every club he played for until things started to go sour.

He does say that he would be happy to take a pay cut. Maybe give him a rolling 1-month contract or a season's contract with a buy-out clause. Both options would give him the motivation to perform.

What he said. Also, Turgott impressing was hardly a surprise - we'd have been pissed off if he didn't - but Phillips was an unknown youngster.

Well anyone who's going to the meeting tonight has the chance to ask Still about this very subject.

It’s not really a pay cut. He cannot find another club, and would obviously take any offer rather than nothing. Still would like him back though but not at silly money compared to the rest of the squad Agree with this. There’s more than a bit of spin in the press release, if it was that simple then JS would have already sorted this. That said, I hope that a compromise can be found

Well he was on trial with AFC Fylde so obviously that hasn't worked out and now he's getting desperate.
Either way I'd definitely take him back, we're looking a bit light in the centre of midfield with just Kamdjo & Corne.

Clearly js and hh don't fancy re-signing him or it would have been done by now

Clearly js and hh don't fancy re-signing him or it would have been done by now They don't need to re-sign him. I understand he's still a Maidstone United contracted player, the same as Wishart.
Management have said they've told him he doesn't feature in their plans. It would appear he's offering to reduce his wages to see if that changes their mind, however, if they do it goes against their publicised statement that it needed a complete change from last season.
My personal opinion is that on the current pre-season showing (whilst admittedly still very early days) he's a better player than some of the new midfield signings.

Phillips is a free agent.

Phillips is a free agent. Obviously my "understanding" isn't very good.
