Irony is a iffy tactic on this forum unless you apply it consistently. If you always mean the opposite to what you post, then it all begins to make sense. But on the other hand if you mix it up, what and when are we meant to believe ? Lol keeps you guessing though doesn’t it😊 Wonder how our black and amber strangers are doing at the Bay this afternoon?

Yep, 3 mates are up there but I've been earning some points with decorating. Taking 10 minutes out right now. Team today @maidstoneunited Stones first half team for this afternoon's game at Herne Bay: Jake Cole, Gavin Hoyte, George Elokobi, Danny Divine, Luke Pennell, Clovis Kamdjo, Sam Corne, Justin Amaluzor, Iffy Allen, Nana Kyei, Jonny Edwards OMG, some things never change @maidstoneunited 30 mins Jonny Edwards' penalty is saved. MUST HAVE BEEN THE PRESSURE OF THE OCCASION !

MUST HAVE BEEN THE PRESSURE OF THE OCCASION ! Well he does have competition for a slot in the NLS front three and we need to find out which of them are going to find the net in NLS. Wonder if they announced the crowd line up to the teams for this one as the players probably out number the fans?

Hard to judge but I’d say Iffy Allen and Nana Kyei looked good.
3 of the back 4 looked good, LB, Pennell needs fitness.
Knocks good for 20 minutes but his legs looked a bit gone. Corne decent.
Justin frustrating and raw but makes things happen.
Edwards doing ok.

Elements of the season looking a bit imbalanced to me. No less than eight league games in August, while only one home game in October and that v Billericay right at the end. With 20% of league games completed in the first month, it could be a significant time and certainly with potential to pick up injuries too. Squad needs a couple more yet, methinks I know it happens every year (only too well, as I'm always away in August!!), but it does seem even worse this year - especially as this is a smaller league.

I think now PANIC and "WHEELERED" are going to be the buzz words for the early part of this season. Hopefully they will replaced by the good old COYS and even better John Still is a genius and NL here we come!

No option but to hit the ground running in August if the club is going to prosper in NLS owing to the number of matches that hit the first month of the season. An impassioned analysis suggests that this is not likely to happen. Firstly with a brand new team that is still learning to pronounce each other's names let alone play well with each other. Secondly a team that is mostly made up of younger players who have it all to prove and who our Head of Football says have been signed up on their potential to improve. Is it likely to happen overnight for the new look Stones ? Not likely in all truth, although it would be great to have a decent start. Patience may be needed. Panicking already Nick? We haven’t even kicked a ball yet! Remember it’s if no importance the squad came together late and all this team gelling stuff is rubbish if they are the right players John and Haks patiently worked for first choices with passion they will hit the ground running and be excellent. Sorry Oldboy, but how were we supposed to assemble the squad earlier. Some players were still under contract, hence the 3 signings on Monday, others may have been weighing up other options. The news this week has been full of signings for virtually all clubs, so it's not just us who are "leaving it late". Yes we may get off to a slow start, but most other clubs are in the same boat, so I don't think it's necessarily as bad as you and Nick think it is. Can't really tell much from pre-season, after all Quigley and Mullins looked decent this time last year and we all know how that turned out.

Hang on a bit, what's this about Nick saying how bad it is ? All I've said is that in the main we have recruited young players with potential with it all to prove. Even John Still has admitted many of the players have to improve from where they are at present. Add to that a massive overhaul of the team and I have suggested that supporters may need to be patient and not expect us to be blitzing teams right from the start. Nothing bad in that and no criticism of the management team. But if daveu and others think that we are going to smash NLS from the word then go, then they are wearing rose tinted specs.

That's not what I said. I merely stated that we are not the only team to have rebuilt over the summer, and many others will be having the same sort of start we're likely to, thus meaning that we may not be as badly off as you and Oldboy think. I even said in my post that we may have a slow start, it's just that I think it may be mitigated by other teams in the same position. And surely saying we'll be around the playoffs doesn't mean we're going to smash teams.

I'm guessing that all the players we did sign have contracts starting on the 1st July no point starting the on 1st June otherwise it's a whole month of wages outgoing that we get no income to counteract it. I swear some of our fans would run the club into the ground if they were ever in charge no clue how to run a business but happy to shout and moan about how others are doing it.

Cant read too much into these fixtures...I thought Clovis looked good in Midfield, seemed to be strong and more often than not play the right pass. Our #10 (Allen?) looked alert and looked sharp.
Still think we need another Striker who isn’t going to necessarily get marked out of the game by big brute CBs.
Devine is quite small for a CB IMO so another decent experienced defender wouldn’t go amiss.
Corne looked fairly active and reminded me a bit of Sam Deering so it will be interesting to see how he kicks on.

I agree - they are clueless - no business sense at all.

[b I’d agree that Allan looked good (our 10) and Olutade looked handy if somewhat cumbersome. Also liked Kyei. Also thought Elokobi and Knight looked a decent pairing. Klovis and Corne looked good for 45 mins but I thought Klovis left his legs in the changing room second half. Also though the 3 young lads that came in at the end acquitted themselves very well.
