Has he signed for anyone?
I hope so - he had talent and hope it hasn’t started a Millsy like downward slide.
Talking if Millsy whose he playing for now?
Sheppey? Stansfeld? Castle Colts?

There’s probably an acceptable standard footballer somewhere in him, but his confidence is always going to hold him back and probably too much of a gamble for most teams to take. Wouldn’t be surprised if he drops down a division from us

Millsy never "started a downward slide". He improved every season - from academy player, right through to National standard.
Then we went 'pro' and he needed more job security than that. We wasted a really good and loyal player who could have gone on to be even better, and who I would have picked over 90% of the players we've recruited since he left.
An excellent player, a nice guy, and a promising career, all wrecked in the fantasy that, after just one year in the NL, all we had to do to make it to the EFL was to go 'full time'.
4 in 6 - goodbye Mills.

Agree with this. Club tried everything to keep him and he made the right decision for himself. Wether you agree or not with going “full time” you don’t change the decision because of one player!

Meanwhile back on topic from a quick can of social Meeja - Georgey Mac was last seen in May in Phuket, swimming with Elephants. (Those words are in the right order, no need to rearrange them.)
Hopefully when he's back he will find a decent footie role for the coming season.

Doesn't matter who we've signed, I'm not embracing any of them.
and, I suspect the feeling is mutual.

Did they really, let me ask you what you would do, you are earning a decent wage doing the day job and a nice weekly boost playing football, to be then offered a few hundred quid a week extra to play full time but give up a very well paid day job, what would you do? I know what I would do and it would be similar to what Tom did

Tom Mills made the right decision not to go full time as he would have been out of work now. He is not the player he was.

JDL - trapped in the past. Only if you misread/misunderstand my post. I was simply correcting a statement, not wishing for Millsy back. His time has gone.

Tom Mills made the right decision not to go full time as he would have been out of work now. He is not the player he was. But could that be because he knew his career was effectively finished when he left us? From then on he was just cruising, playing for fun. With us he'd always had the incentive to improve and meet the increasing challenges. Without that, what's the point in constantly pushing yourself? Better just to enjoy the game and stay injury free. Had he stayed with us, who knows how he would have progessed. Personally, I suspect he'd reached his peak and would only have seen another season or two with us (especially once the Clown arrived!), but who knows - he did more than OK that first season, and could have gone on to become a regular NL player.

Dave not sure what your job is, but in today’s society you get paid more if you have a trade or a skill set that is needed
