Let's all pray for the hero's scenario as we deserve it after last year. Sword I would rather have a squad full of wannabe,s next season rather than the squad of has beens we suffered last year.

I am starting to have my doubts about JS and HH. I'm beginning to think that it might have been a mistake to part company with HW. I am sure he would have got the new squad done and dusted by mid-May. HW for PM.

Fair point cgr. Our much lamented and fondly remembered ex manager Harry Wheeler may have his critics, but he certaining knew how to sign up multiple players by the binbag with no mucking about. Oh happy days !

I wonder how many of our new signings are on holiday, and signing on the dotted line, once they return

So thus far - we have a very strong defence and some forwards and attacking midfielders. All is okay I'm sure we have a tactic that will work with that formation

Were last seasons squad a bunch of has beens?? To me a has been is someone who has made it to the top and clinging on despite the fact they should've retired two years ago. That certainly doesn't describe any of last seasons players perhaps a more apt description would be "never were"

I agree with those two, but sadly can't see either happening. Thought Phillips was off to Aldershot and Turgott to Orient

One look at Instagram and Twitter shows you a lot of players are on holiday at the moment. It seems a bit early for this amount of panic to set in so long before the season starts. This is the off season, and players probably have switched themselves off for a few weeks from the constant training / travel / game commitments, which makes total sense. Some players sign early and get it out the way, some take a little longer and sign on midway through the summer and then others will leave it to the final few weeks. It's not surprising, really. m Switch yourself off for a few WEEKS? Yes. It's called a holiday. In an industry where you can't go away for extended periods of time for a lot of the year, surely that's reasonable? When you should be looking for a new job? Which is your only income? Again, yes. As has been alluded to in later posts on this thread, many may agree in principle and sign when they get back. This is 2019 - free roaming charges and WhatsApp conversations make things a whole lot easier. In which you only work three or four days tops? Yes yes yes. Same as above. It's still employment with limited flexibility. You may have able free time but you don't have a huge amount of free movement.Never thought I’d see the day that non league players - in tier six at that - so pampered and removed from the real world of work! 100% - it's still a job with a very decent income for people who haven't even hit 30 yet.No wonder last years lot looked so Passionless! Just hope JS2 and Hak have got it right with this lot-I’m sure they have. I do wonder what though what the poor mites will do when they have to retire from football and get real jobs! They are all going to just go on holiday to Marbella / Ibiza / Dubai / Mykonos / InsertTypicalFootballerHolidayDestinationHere forever, and ever, and ever, and ever and....Answers written above under your comments, like I'm marking an essay.

It's already 9:30 on Monday morning and we haven't yet signed ANY players!
WTF? Are JS2 and HH trying to destroy the club? Are they agents of The Clown? Is Terry secretly in the pay of Gillingham? Has sword eaten Malcolm?
Is it time to PANIC???

Less than 2 weeks to go before the Stones take on the mighty Herne Bay. Just 11 players signed so far. The squad is already looking pretty sound in defence with perhaps one addition needed to make up the numbers. No news yet on Lewington(keeper coach) re-signing which is a little surprising, so perhaps he is looking at other options. Quite a few strikers/wide players but a proven goalscorer to add to the squad would be a comfort. Where we do lack at the moment is in the midfield engine. Serious lack of playmakers/string pullers. Hopefully John has a trick or two up his sleeve. Maybe we will hear some more positives this week.
