I suspect as a club we will recycle many old kits for the team to wear from about 4 different seasons making it look proper half arsed 🤦🏼♂️ At the risk of being whooshed, are you serious??? I know some people question the professionalism of the club but really? ?

I have to ask the question- given we have had an academy model of teams at all ages with a 3G pitch for many years why haven’t we got more home developed players in the first team squad? Those that did become promising seemed to go to EFL clubs then back down to clubs above and below us completely by passing the black and amber. Must be disappointing that our JWW factory hasn’t produced more players for our own first team surely? Perhaps our coaching simply isn't good enough at that level. Sure we can identify the spark, but ultimately someone else comes in and starts the engine. One of the most recent examples would be Victor Sodeinde. Currently kicking around at Notts Forest U23s, but time will tell if he goes on but time is on his side

I think the gap is just too big. Back in the IS, good academy players could make it into the first team squad quite easily, but at National level the step up is just too big.
The academy is really just a school for young local footballers - and hopefully makes a few bob for the club - it's not a feeder for the senior side.
Once in a while, someone really good will emerge, but, as we have seen, it's a Catch 22 - if they're that good, chances are they're too good for us and will be snapped up by a big club.
It's not just us either - how many big club academies regularly produce 1st team players? Most of them seem to end up playing for lower division sides. Practically any senior player we pick up has started at an EFL academy.

Not really moaning sword, I thought most of the points were fair enough but unfortunately laboured wholly on the negatives. Plenty more positives to having an under 23 team, it's a no brainer and pleasing to see.
