I’m moving from a shitty little village Newington. My head says Maidstone. My wife says Faversham. Any thoughts ? Faversham is a quaint little town in a very scenic area. It has a good train service linking to London and the coast. Its a bit light in the shopping department with very few big name stores but there is a Tesco. There is a number of nice pubs as well as a Wetherspoons. Every Saturday there is a market and now and again there are food markets and special events. There are plenty of charity shops and book shops and a few cafes for a light lunch. The only problem is that once a year a load of loonies from imusc go on a pub crawl there ,this year it is Saturday June 1 and you and anyone else on the board are welcome to join us if you want to check the place out.

When redundancy called and I wanted to move from Medway, I concentrated my efforts on Maidstone and Faversham. A part of me will always regret not getting a job near Faversham. But Maidstone will always have better opportunities.

I have to commute to work at the minute. Neither would be a problem in that sense.

My employers moved from Romford to Chatham. We spent weeks looking around Medway.
Then moved to Maidstone.

The gang an I had the day in Faversham on Saturday in beautiful 80°f sunshine. The town had a massive food market as well as the usual stores and was well attended by people just relaxing and enjoying themselves. Their was no hint of trouble and I didn't find myself constantly looking over my shoulders inside or outside of a pub which is something that I cannot say about Maidstone or Tonbridge to a lesser extent. The pubs we visited were all very welcoming and their is a wide variety of beers and food though some of it is more expensive than others depending on which pub you go to. You are also not far from the coast with Herne Bay and Whitstable a short drive away . You have a difficult decision to make the only good thing is that both towns are not in Medway, the compost heap of the garden of England

I’m moving from a shitty little village Newington. My head says Maidstone. My wife says Faversham. Any thoughts ? Maidstone will have more opportunity and more going on. Faversham will be quieter and quainter. It depends what you want (although Faversham does contain part of your boardname). I do remember Faversham had quite a lot for young kids (if that affects you at all). You could always go further still and join us on the coast...

I have lived in Maidstone, but moved to Newington when an opportunity came up for a cottage. Problem is there’s only 1 pub. I’ve been doing Faversham the last few weeks and the old pubs are so relaxing. Quaint and quieter you said. Very appealing. Further down the coast. Probably too far

When I lived in Newington there were 3 pubs. Can't think why 2 of them shut.
