I'm obsessed? You seem determined to misunderstand my posts, no matter how I try to explain myself! My point is not about our ambition, it's about the catch 22 situation we are in in the NS. It's a smaller division than the NL, so the fact that there are still 7 playoff places has a bigger impact. Add to that the fact that we are a big club by NS standards and will be expected to do well, and you get a situation where we really don't have any choice about where we end up. Effectively, this means that anything less than a playoff position will be seen as a failure. So, whether we think we should try to go straight back up, or not, we will still, almost certainly, end up in the playoffs. And then what? No club is going no settle for not trying to win the playoffs, so, whether we wanted to go straight back up or not, we could easily find ourselves back in the NS. We either don't do well in the NS or we effectively challenge for promotion, there isn't really any other choice. Not doing well in the NS isn't an option. Yet you still keep saying we should spend a couple of years consolidating before going for promotion. Make up your mind. In the end gentlemen not does not matter what we think As it is all down to TC&OA if they are happy to stay down then so be it. That decision will doubtless piss off 90% of our fans but as long as the owners ate happy then that fine are all you lot ready to hound them out for their perceived failures . On the other hand if we finish 10th will the aforementioned owners still be happy ,well only 2 people know this and I doubt they will be upfront in telling us.

I knew there would come a time when I could agree with you on something sword. i must admit there have been times when I didn't think it could happen, but 'hey presto', the day has arrived. "It does not matter what we think" Too true mate. There is no conspiracy going on. Oliver and Terry have appointed the best management team they could find to restructureand improve the playing side of the club, create some stability and prepare for life in the NLS. Are they still ambitious enough to see the club work its' way back to the NL ? You bet they are. No question!

Too right Nick. In John Still we have the most successful nonleague manager ever. Oliver and Terry could not do more than that.

Nobody has a God given right to success in football, even though some clubs begin in more favourable circumstances than others - more money, in other words. Can also see Havant doing well next season, simply because they have Paul Dowswell. As John Still says, you can have all the best players (though clearly we didn't), but if the blend isn't right then the team will not be as successful as they might be. For me, next season is about balancing hope over expectation. A new team is being built from scratch. It could well, because we will be better resourced than many. But there is not certainty of success and even if we were to win the league, would it leave any better off in the long term than now? Personally, I think not, because we would be back to being minnows again in the NL. As for making the play offs, that is certainly a more realistic expectation, but certainly one that has no guarantee of success. Play offs are cup matches, with the best side over the season by no means certain to win. In fact, they are more about recent form, fitness of key players and so on. When we beat Ebbsfleet, we sort of got lucky - or did we? Massive funding was required for the ground, which meant player recruitment came second best. That is why some on this forum are preaching caution. It is not lack of ambition, it is about managing expectations, so when, not if, Stones are back in the NL, we are ready to challenge enough to stay there and then go for the FL. Find our own Class of 92 and all things are possible. In the meantime, we are what we are. Only two teams can go up and if we are one of them, I hope we then do not end up doing a Braintree afterwards. One season of pain like this one is enough for a while and the Gallagher badly needs a return of the feel good factor.
