I could be wrong, but I think the Board's defence here is about as strong as the teams - you don't let somebody in who proceeds to ransack the sweet shop and stand back while he does it ? porkystone's stated opinion in the Finney Gone - To Aldershot thread in which the original poster was ... porkystone In Harry we trust, no other option, so many changes now, this is the only way...... Yellow card! You start picking selected quotes out of old posts and we're all doomed!

Yellow card! You start picking selected quotes out of old posts and we're all doomed! At the time of Porkystone's quote, towards the end of December, I think the team was in such a mess that it would not have mattered if HW had stayed or not. Although I thought HW was totally useless, at the time it felt like the it was too late in the season to do much to change the downward spiral by replacing him, and getting in a decent, experienced Manager like JS. To be fair to Porkystone I too felt that the best thing to do would have stuck with HW, and just hope he did know what he was doing, and turn it around in the new year. I admit that my feelings and viewpoint at the time did smack of desperation.

Tbh I had concerns about wheeler dealer from match one , after wandering over to the dug out and listening to his rantings. "second ball second ball", "get in get in" "kick it kick it" and so on.
He was always throwing his arms in the air and pulling faces at supporters which suggested the players on show were not up to much.
Yes he was indiscreet enough about his negative opinion on players with supporters he had never met.
So different to Jay Saunders and in fairness to those who have followed.
Imo Alex Finney has been one of the best players to turn out for the Stones in the modern era, he lost confidence towards the end, but I think we all know who that was down to.
Alex deserves a warm welcome on his return.

So from Bill and Ricay we managed to get Walton “passed it on the pitch” Robinson “in his 30’s never made a huge mark higher than NLS” We have lost Paxman, Loza and Effete! I know who did better out of the transactions and it was not Maidstone! Now this crap is nearly at an end I pray the club have learnt from its mistakes. Let’s hope HH can learn all he needs to from JS2 before JS2 retires and leaves HH in full charge. We may have lost Paxman, Loza and efetee, but let's be honest they were no great losses. Paxman was majorly overrated by our fan base, ran around like a headless chicken calling for the ball and daydreamed when it came to doing any defensive work usually giving it away with a sloppy pass or completely failing to track his man (strolling back). Loza was never the same after his injury he was also a liability defensively as he never tracked back letting his man go and leaving our full backs against two everytime. Efetee was ok going forward at this level but was poor defensively, when you have the worst defence in the league you can't keep hold of defenders who are not good at defending. Finney was the same can't work out all this fuss, he made so many mistakes that led to goals for the opponents it was unreal, he often had no idea what was around him. We should be more pissed that we didn't bring Alex wynter back than we are about Finney going. Yes wheeler created a toxic atmosphere but some of you need to take your heads out of your backsides with regards to how "good" some of our players were/are. Calm down sweet heart!!! Never did I say that Loza, Paxman nor Effete we’re great, however I rate all three over Walton and Robinson! So pull you’re head out you’re own ass and read posts properly!!

Changing tack - I was surprised to read that apparently there is an 'agreement' that Finney couldn't play against us. I understand that for a loan but Finney was moved on a free transfer. Presumably it was only for this season?

Well before everyone has this mass of sympathy for the way Finney was treated we should always remember that there,s two sides to every story an we have only got one here. And at the end of the day when Finney left here he was certainly not the best defender we have had, a player that had lots of mistakes in him every game.

Presumably it was only for this season? According to the article he is contracted for next season as well. I guess that kyboshes anyone's hopes of getting him back. I would actually like to see him alongside Swaine who certainly has the experience to guide him through games and bring him on as a player. Also, I'm by no means convinced he was as bad a player as he appeared to be under Wheeler. It always looked more like his confidence was shot.

What I don’t get about this article is where it says the club didn’t want to let him go to Dover as a direct relegation rival (or similar such wording) ..... but then they let him go to Aldershot ?! It just struck me as slightly odd !

Ok good first season but was absolute gash this early season even with Jay Saunders at the helm, giving him his 1k a week 2 year deal was a stupid move last summer for pretty much a good under 23 player, in hindsight maybe worth it based on previous form but when he couldn’t get into Aldershot’s team later on, that tells me that it was the right call by Wheeler even those Wheeler himself had no clue overall in the end. I’m pretty sure Aldershot came in with a fee, don’t know what KM is going on about...
