The point of the interview is to get some insight into what went on. A fascinating listen. Oliver said on Stones Live chat that some things went on that fans do not know about. Jay has chosen to speak out and it is up to the directors to decide if they want to challenge what Jay has said or leave it be. Apparently it was mutual consent remember. On a personal level, I imagine the Directors would be itching to have a pop back, but to what purpose ? They should be looking forward to a new era, not back & hopefully have concluded just that. There's a lot of ugly ' car park ' gossip swirling around about this whole affair, and it should stay in the car park …...

Well I listened to the full interview and found it honestly refreshing, he is a decent bloke who the club fully utilised, I couldn’t believe the bit about driving the mini bus, no wonder he was tempted by Macclesfield they were offering him a contract, to me he will always be a legend and I believe when he left the heart was ripped out of the club, I hope all those that wanted him out felt the ‘hope’ we were offered

No one should be surprised or able to argue too much with any of that

A fascinating insight and if long overdue, the timing is probably about right in the end. Very clear that since joining the NL, while we appeared to up our game, going 'full time' etc, in fact we continued to lag behind in all sorts of areas and shows why Bromley are able to succeed, when we can't. Some new features came in with he who shall not be named, then some more with HH-JS1. However, it is obvious we are still not at the level where we can compete in this league and it all goes back to being promoted too quick, too soon. Jay overachieved, but once we got to the NL,the didn't have the resources to compete once Pigott and Hines left. It is easy to blame the owners, but our rapid rise also meant they got out of their depth as well, plus of course they had all the ground improvements to fund, so had their hands tied. It is all history now and all we can hope for is that lessons have been learned, both on and off the pitch.

So easy to over analyse things. For me it was a simple case of bringing in the wrong man. It was time for Jay to go. Towards the end we were bloody awful, poor tactics and slow decisions from the touchline when trying to change the games late on, that wasn t just down to not having enough money to buy players.
People talk about the heart being ripped out of the club? I m sure a few good wins at the start of next season and the heart will amazingly re appear.

I think it really does re-affirm the board approached us being in the VNL with somewhat tinted glasses on.The fact Jay wasn't even under contract, is pretty shoddy and screams "on the cheap". Jay obviously realised we needed proper coaching hence his comment about getting a GK coach in and a proper scouting system which was rebuffed. Its only I imagine when others from outside came in, they have mentioned the things Jay previously did and they've probably realised he was on to something.
The fact Jay was even looking to ferry our kids around shows what sort of character he is, and I reckon his good nature and love for the club was probably exploited a bit realising they could squeeze more out of him than most other managers at this level.
Correct me if I am wrong but Worgan was our keeper and he is a goalkeeping coach so why did we need another one? Maybe because you can't really coach yourself.

If he was asked if Joe could play at a higher level then the answer is what was quoted in the report. It’s hardly touting him about is it!

Hakan is shit. Unless the biggest budget by far he will struggle.
That is obvious to anyone but if not to you, well, you heard it here first.

I think the point you made about Jay being exploited is bang on. I have always been a big supporter of the owners but actually got annoyed listening to that. I think because jay had been here so long they thought they could take advantage of him knowing he was a supporter himself and would just put up with it. Can you imagine if they asked the clown 🤡 or John Still to drive the minibus for the academy lads....... I don't think they consciously took advantage of him. It's just something that happened naturally probably without them even noticing. Sometimes it takes a change to make you realise what you were doing wrong.

Not sure about the 'fascinating insight' bit. Chatted to a few mates about the podcast last night. No surprises really, just confirmed what everybody had heard through various grapevines. It is what it is. We are where we are. Mistakes were made and I expect quite a few lessons learnt. So we move on from the most depressing season since the Stones returned home. We are still fortunate to have Terry and Oliver, our Gallagher Stadium, an experienced and savvy management team and great support. Looking forward to a much more enjoyable 19/20 season in NLS.

Good post. Hearing Jay's treatment is very saddening and does further reduce my respect for our owners, but they are human and make mistakes and we could still have a lot, lot worse than Oliver Terry and Bill.
Yes the thought of Jay back at JWW with a proper contract, owners support, a supportive DoF and coaching staff to help him when he runs out of ideas tactically sounds glorious after this "most depressing season" but sadly its not going to happen, unfortunately.
Good to see Justin play so well and Hakan get so animated, and Swaine looking solid, and to see the fans still get behind the team in a small crowd (Surely more like 1000 than 1400?) so yes, lets look forward to NLS and seeing some fresh new faces in the black and amber giving us some good games of football that get us there or thereabouts.
COYS!

Hakan is shit. Unless the biggest budget by far he will struggle. That is obvious to anyone but if not to you, well, you heard it here first. I still have my HH doubts but at least last night he was a proper Manager - getting stuck in, making himself heard, and his half-time pep talk must have been good - we won!
More to the point, Hakan comes with the package of JS2 so we are stuck with him and whatever the budget, we have to trust that he can forge a new squad into a winning team.
Remember, we complained too much for Jay to go when he ran out of ideas but now with hindsight we know all he needed was a contract, commitment, and better structure around him, so be careful what you wish for. HH may be a concern, but he does come with JS2 and, like with our owners, the alternatives may be a lot worse. Also, NLS may be more Hakan's Coaching level. Lets see.

Jay was good enough to sign a shirt for my old man in the pre season leading up to the first national league game against York!
I sat in the Spitfire lounge as all the squad came in ready to head down for a friendly against one of the Kent Coast Ryman teams. As each player came in Jay pointed them in my direction to sign the shirt. The likes of Sweeney, Acheampong, Flisher, Lokko and so on were chatting. Flisher was explaining how long he had been at the club to the surprise of a few new faces! Then jay said “we can’t wait for Pax anymore as he is stuck in traffic” so they all bundled into a transit minibus driven by Jay and headed down for the game with a kit bag full of mismatched white away kits from the past few seasons!
We have quite a professional look on a match day around the Gallagher, but that little experience showed me how Sunday league the club felt! Yes it was pre season, but for a National league club to show up for a game like that!! We started in the National league playing catch up in every aspect from the playing squad, the ground specifications and the way the club was run! It’s obvious to me now how bloody well Jay did with what he had. Several mistakes later and we are where we are! I believe we will be a yo-yo club for many years and until the 3G issue is resolved or we somehow find either new investment or new trustworthy minted owners that will not change! We fit somewhere between the NLS and the NL
