I don't think there is any 'if' about the budget being reduced. How much, more like. With attendances down for the 2nd season on the bounce, lower match day revenues and the rest, I cannot imagine the club accounts will look so rosy next time round. The club will not be looking forward to an inevitable downturn in season ticket sales, even with reduced prices, which will drive down revenue even further. So a reduced wage bill is an absolute certainty. Anyone's guess, but mine is between 10%-20%. Not the end of the World as it will probably still place us in the top 25% in terms of National South playing budgets. With a savvy management team we should still be very competitive.

What I’m liking is everybody is positive about JS and HH going into next season. Looking forward to next season already

Looking forward to next season already They have to be given the time to show what they can do, pre season will be the key for them, we need to have strong competative games to make sure the players are good enough. The players they bring in need to be fit an ready for the season no longer can we sign players who are carrying injuries. Be a very important first few weeks for the pair of them, a few defeats and people will turn against them.

Really poor quality of oppo, and the only team of real substance (Ricay) played us off the park. If the club want to ensure people stay hooked from the off then hopefully they are looking at more than kids sides to play for the bulk of it

Hopefully JS2 with his black book of EFL and NL connections, plus on his scouting missions, may persuade some decent teams down to JWW pre-season. Trouble is, big names play their kids so what would be the better test for us - Crystal Palace's youth team or a Ricay first team?

Must admit that our pre-season matches in the past 3 years have been pretty disappointing. Mostly against teams well below our level that didn't seem to accomplish anything very worthwhile. Some rubbish training type matches in truth that were simply not worth turning up to watch. Last season, we had a few easy wins against poor teams and then when a half decent Billericay from a lower division turn up, that beat us easily.
At least pre season cannot be any worse that we have got used to recently and hopefully it will be better

Its a tough one, because "big name" friendlies will attract the 50/50 supporter who isnt too fussed how we get on, dads bringing their kids etc, and thats the audience you need to capture and get their interest because gates will be down. At the end of the day its all about fitness, gelling the team and learning your shape you want to play with etc..If I were organsing it, id go for a blend similar to:
Chatham (A) - Tues night match
Hayes & Yeading (H) Margate (A) Torquay (H) Folkestone (A) - Tuesday night match
AFC Wimbledon (H)
Something like that blends a bit of interest, with local matches, will provide a good challenge, and all not a million miles away.

Is a reduced budget - spending less on wages - a bad thing? Spending National LEague wages in the Nat S would be crazy, wouldn't it? Who we sign and how they gel is what matters. Will next season start with a thumping win at Weymouth in the sunshine, a brace from Jake Embery and a screamer from an as yet unknown new signing? Or a dire 0-0 home to Concord Rangers and a feeling of "who the hell have we signed here?" (like Quigley v Hartlepool last year)? I'll stay optimistic for the moment...

Would prefer Folkestone away on a Saturday as it makes for a good day out then Tonbridge on a Tuesday as it is only 500 yards away from me and AFC Wimbledon can go and f**k themselves.

I notice Jack Parkinson doesn't seem to be playing anymore after leaving Concord a while ago after being Welling Coach after playing for Dover, but surely he's still young enough to put in a shift for us in NLS? It would probably need Walton to leave though as JP would probably want to be a player coach.

I would have Parkinson back and rate him over Walton, but some fans can’t forgive him for ditching us for Dover when we first got promoted to the NLS! Jay was going to use him at centre back that season, but it never happened. Would be good to have Jack for either defensive midfield or centre back.

Looking at who we have on the books now that is not on loan who are likely to make a move to a National league club next season for me would be;
WDH Turgott Powell
That means the rest would probably be at best NLS quality! It’s usually the case that promoted teams from the NLS take the odd player from teams going the opposite way. I would expect to see a few of the current squad playing against us next season as HH and JS will probably move most of them on.
I’m hoping the following stay, but only at the correct price;
Swaine, Lewington, Embury, Amaluzor, Turgott (never going to happen) the first two I wouldn’t be pissed if they left! The rest thanks and goodbye

If I’m right we have a Jordy Robins at Margate that I think was on a two year deal as well who might come back?
