Well after a damn long drive there an backI have had time to reflect on the game an finally you can see just a few bits of improvement in the overall game, nothing fantastic but as a team they are starting to try an do whats asked of them, JE came on an showed he has talent that needs nursing through gently, but finally I was ok with the performance an in honesty we didn,t deserve to come away with nothing. But the confidence has grown if only by a little bit.

Its by no means a race - especially in some of the weather back on the M40 - but back home in Maidstone by 9 last evening.
For what little they're worth my thoughts on the match (in no order of importance) I suspect a fully match fit Blair would have scored one of his chances yesterday - so, still work in progress Walton's defensive performance, including his tackling, was good, his passing and distribution was poor to very poor - disappointingly I'm not sure this is going to improve Embery appeared not to be overawed by, what I'm assuming was, his largest crowd and stadium in his career so far. A convincing performance against two experienced, and large, central defenders. Stones' defenders appear to have lost, for the older supporters amongst, the Colin Priestley school of defending. ie whacking it very hard downfield when appropriate to do so. Too many attempts this season have gone upwards, sideways or generally not in the required direction or distance.
A pint at least from the game yesterday would not have been undeserved. Fortunately this season's performances have lowered my threshold and meant I was not unduly annoyed that we'd actually lost this one.

JOHN STILL was clearly very unhappy with the goal. He spoke about "I know where it came from" and then made some reference to eradicating how it happened or "eradicate the player". Sounds like the Grim Reaper. There's probably a few who are going to get the bullet at the end of the season but who is he taking aim at on this occasion ?

My recollection was that the error was involving DeHaviland and/or Wishart. The "highlights" will I'm sure prove the 'guilty party's.

This game summed up our three years in the national league.
We had two real quality chances early on and failed to make either count.
We then make three mistakes on the trot to give them a great chance which they converted.
They had another chance in the first half which lewington came out well to save but it rebounded of one of our centre halves and luckily went wide of the open goal.
There wasn't much between the two teams, they had a couple of penalty shouts we picked up three yellow cards 1 thoroughly deserved and in a stupid bloody position, we did have our own free kick opportunity but Powell was unable to replicate his beauty from earlier this season which would've given us a deserved point.
Neither team imo did enough to win but we certainly didn't deserve to lose that game.

Sadly Daveu I have a young son with a disability that he hates being away from home an his routines so had no one else to share the driving, lets hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday up there.

Decent highlights from Wrexham on YouTube, though they seem to show we had the better chances first half rather than second. Being picky, think Lewington's positioning could have been better for their goal, plus our shooting looked pretty weak when we had the chance. That said, defending looked much better than of late. What was really noticeable is how souless these big grounds look when less than a quarter full. Our ground may not be big, but the atmosphere is so much better, even with only 2000 there than 4-5000 rattling round in a ground like Wrexham. As for 10% gates at the likes of Gateshead or Halifax, that must be especially desultory.

Maybe we can scrape a 1000 or more tomorrow night to see us beat Gillingham - always a good thing to see even if it is their Youth team!
