Really Interesting 20 odd minutes: www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/2019/03/stones-tv-friday-interview-with-john-still-wrexham/Main Points: * Scouting System in place * Hak will run things eventually * Pleased with last 2 performances * Looking forward to next year / wants hungry players * Cass / Swain / Richards might be fit ' for next week ' * Pax hasn't shown enough, Amaluzor a better bet, Pax on transfer list. * JS knows who he wants & doesn't want for next year. * Got to make a team. * Current squad & mix ' not right ' .

A marathon session. One things above all stands out though. We have been through multiple restructurings of the team this season with so many signings that almost defy belief. Yet here we are near the end of the season and our Head of Football clearly believes the team is totally unbalanced with serious deficiencies in quite a few playing positions. Hardly any supporter will disagree with that assessment. Seems he was hinting that his efforts are all about longer term planning for next season. Before that we can expect a major overhaul of the playing staff. Feels like groundhog day and yet hard to disagree with any John's opinions.

He talks sense. I’m positive he will recruit well. I think, without confirming it, it’s next season and the season after, we are planning for and that also makes perfect sense.
It’d be great to listen to John a bit more. A good person to be stuck in a lift with.

Honest, engaging, passionate and highly plausible. Never mind the lift, I'd have him round for dinner, just to sit and listen. Among the many snippets, Jack Richard's name came up as 'not ready yet', so perhaps injured, but clearly still in JS1's plans for now. Not dismissing Paxman entirely either, but stir in his other thoughts and you can see he is disappointed with his attitude. Careful with his words throughout, not slagging anyone specifically, but using the idea of getting the right combinations, which we so clearly haven't had all season. Plus we know why he is not at every game, because he is out with the other scouts, looking for next season. For me at least, it all makes sense and there is every chance we can do well next season. Just have to be patient about the rest of this one.

Well talks a good game .but hes taken Dagenham down ,left Barnet in a mess with a big budget ,and in charge when we go down we could get two experince players for the wages we are paying him ,to me living off old old triumphs .

He's been there, done it...took Stones to the Football League and like the other jS is a Stones legend..he is planning for next year so let him get on with it.

And then still have to pay for an experienced manager, good non-thinking!!

I wondered why he wanted players from Hungary! The key point to me is that he kept on about it not being how good a player is, it's how well they fit into his team. He's not looking for the best players, he's looking for the ones he wants that will slot into the 'gaps' in the team and play his way. He's building a team, not buying players. Also said he's not a quick-fix man (reading between the lines, he's already accepted we're going down - probably since he took the job), it takes time to build a team and get it playing right, and that's how it is, you can't do it quickly. Still (see what I did there?) only words at this stage, but if I'm prepared to listen to anyone's thoughts on rebuilding MUFC, Still is that man. That said, I remain to be convinced by HH. Hopefully he'll grow on me. And I suppose it's not really fair to judge a manager in his position, with a rag-bag team, inherited from previous managers, and at the tail end of a relegation season. Let's see what the two of them can do next season. Looking forward to it!

Personally i'm viewing the rest of this campaign as an extended pre-season.. it's the only way to get through it.

Personally i'm viewing the rest of this campaign as an extended pre-season.. it's the only way to get through it. . Been feeling like that for a week or two. I like the structure that's being put in place for the future. The improved scouting and being able to uncover little gems that can shine and in time we can sell on will be what will help make this club bridge the financial gaps to being a force in the future for the National League and beyond. Yes we will be going down this season, yes next year will be a year for a new side to gel rather than bounce back, but I reckon we will be really strong the following year, with a settled squad, ready to have another crack at this league hopefully with the breathing room for the owners to get the Riverside done in time. Throw in a couple of half decent cup runs as well and the future still looks bright COME ON YOU STONES

In time for another crack at the National League as others have said it's recognised there remains a strong demand for seating which we currently can't meet. The Riverside stand should provide much needed added seated capacity while at the same time getting that development out of the way before in the future having to finance the redevelopment of the Town End to achieve the requirements to me the ambitions of Football league membership as and when the club's on field capabilities and off field financing permit

digressing slightly -and unfortunately its at least two years away now (by which time the rules will probably have changed ) i read elsewhere that Harrogate are prepared to bury their 3G pitch in favour of grass in the summer should they secure promotion to EFL
