Saw him play in his early days for Millwall and everyone thought he was going to be a top player for Millwall in the furture. Lost track of him a little bit after he left Millwall but saw he did well for Fleet last few seasons so was pleased to see him sign. Now, for me, he is the most frustating player. He has lots of quality and still some potential, shown by his goals v Macclesfield and Hartlepool. Personally, think him and Paxman are too similar to play together and leave too much work for the defensive midfielder to do. Wonder if he is in John and Hak's plans for next season?

For every free kick (aka Silkmen game) he has 20 games where he goes missing, and makes you question what he does.

One of the few signings this season Wheeler made I wanted to keep was Sean Shields. Again we went on the cheap option, and Taylor...who or where is he? I literally have no highlight reels in my head of him.

He has talent but really does not care. In a terrible season he has been the most frustrating player. Can't wait for him to leave.

The doom and gloom mongers are very much in the ascendancy. sword must be loving it ! Sadly nobody can disagree with the assessments of Powell. Certainly has some talent but for far too often he is out of matches rather than in it. Another player who has underperformed and will leaving the Stones at the end of this accursed season.

Instead we get the more economical Taylor. Out of sight out of mind. What a waste of time and money ! Another disappointing signing.

What a waste of time and money ! Another disappointing signing. Agree on Shields - what a loss - and on Taylor who? - what a waste of time. As for Pax and Powell, they are definitely are two very strong candidates for John Stills "if only I had done that when I had the chance" brigade in the pub in 15 years time. We will see on Saturday - if they get picked - if they have realised that, or will just continue to be the promising disappointments they have played like for the past year or three, and be gone at season end, as we all expect.
Mmmm - do I detect a sudden pattern of these posts starting to agree with each other? Disturbing. Come on Nick, fish your rosy coloured specs out of the river of tears that is this season and tell us we are all going to avoid relegation so we can all throw negativity at you again!
COYS!

I think with all of these players, we need to remember that the team's confidence is shot to pieces. We've a few players who would probably look totally different if the side were going out believing they could get results.

We've a few players who would probably look totally different if the side were going out believing they could get results. I think JS's point is this is where the players who are going to make something of themselves at Maidstone or even higher than NL are the ones who will overcome their team mates negativity and still go out and perform with confidence in their own ability - the ones who blend into the negativity and lack of confidence will stay NL level or even lower. Sean Shields had it. Cass may have it, maybe even WDH (but what a cock up at Solihull!) - but outside of that, I'm struggling. I think that what JS is saying is that this is their moment to prove if they really are worth NL or above, or are going to sink into semipro mediocrity in NLS and NLN or even lower. Step up or ship out. This relegation season could be career determining for a lot of the team, and I wonder if they will really get that? If they do, we may even have a mini resurgence and some points coming - if they don't, it'll be more games like the last wo. Who knows?

We have made a few loan signings that looked very good, but were recalled or ended through injury.
Smith in goal was very good Shields had some good moves in him. Doyle the left back from Blackburn was very handy.
But for every good loan signing we have two or three poor ones.
The permanent signings have not worked out well either! Powell, Walton, Swaine, Donnellan could turn out Ok, Robinson now gone back and did nothing.
It says quite a lot when your No.2 keeper and coach is talked about so much!!
