Kent Online - 7th February
He was recalled by Hartlepool in January, scoring against the Stones, but was dragged down by negativity on the terraces and wanted to get out.
Cassidy said: "I don't think they're good to many people, to be fair.
"If it's not going well it's a bit poisonous. That's the stigma around the club. It's just a negative club.
"A lot of people from the club have come out saying that and I don't think it's something that's going to change, unless they get promoted, which they're not going to do this year.
"I don't listen too much to what the fans think but there's a lot of players who do go under once it turns and it's a shame for the club because there's some good players who aren't fulfilling their potential because they're getting slated every week."
... or could it?

Some of the ex-league grounds have a really toxic atmosphere as soon as the first goal goes in. That hasn't happened much at Maidstone that I've heard. You get the odd grumble and tutting under the breath, but not the visceral hatred some fans spew forth. We tend to know our place in the world.

You talk like there’s been no negativity in the history of the club before, laughable...

It depends whether or not they deserve it. I am pretty sure if we were playing good attacking football having,say10 shots per game 50% of which were on target that made the opposing keeper work and losing 1-0 every week then slagging the players off then yes that is pure negativity. I could then understand the players getting very down. Here at Maidstone we are not doing that we lack any creative attacking skill , we are lucky if we have 2 shots per game even luckier if one of them is on target making the oppo keeper work. Let's face it in the last month I think just about every team we have played could have rested their goalkeepers and still won. Yes we have in recent weeks become very negative both on and off the terraces but the majority of the players concerned deserve the criticism. I am not going to say Walton is a brilliant ,experienced ex football league player Who leads by example when he is in fact a lazy, useless lardarse who couldn't inspire a team of under 8's and if he doesn't like that sort of comment then he should do something to show me and you goodselves that we are wrong. At the moment we have a team of which 75% are just bloody awful, or useless with absolutely no fight in them at all so they deserve the negativity and it's up to then to turn it around.

Steady on Sword, a bit over the top on the personal attack. I am sure you were a player at some level at one time and you must know what it is like loosing; more-so if you loose every game for a while, you don't need to be told you are bad - you know it!.
I am sure our players a feeling just as bad as we are if not worse?- the owners and management also- we have a massive rebuild task ahead of the club and it is not going to be easy and we all need to play a part in the recovery.
So might I propose just backing off a bit and giving them some support for the rest of the season - It may be painful but we should look on the "bright Side of life" We have a club, with a ground in town, which we did not have 10 years ago
We'll be back
C'mon you Stones we have done it before we can do it again

Agree with you julesdad, sword's negativity is off the scale !
We all think team performances are shocking but slagging off individual players does not help the cause at all.
Tbf vocal support for the team has held up pretty well considering the circumstances and that's all we can do.
This has been a 'season from hell' and the entertainment rating has been nil.
We just have to hang on in there and try to give the team as much encouragement as we can.
Leave the bile on social media.
Not easy when the team is performing so badly, but that's what proper supporters do.
That includes you sword.🤗

Walton is also free to call me what he wants in fact he is free to jump over the fence and nut me if he likes at least that would show some fight and passion instead of the turgid rubbish he is dishing up at the moment and he is not even the worst player I was just using him as an example. I do support the club and will continue to do so but don't let the fine praise heaped on our support go to your head ,trust me the owners don't give a Damn about you ,me or any of the other 2000 ish who follow this club. Right now I believe it is your turn to tell me that I am talking out of my massive arse.

A fourth game I was taken to hospital with severe concussion after being clotheslined by a Maidstone prison officer. I was given a 226 day ban and £50 fine by the KentFA ,a fine that i refused to pay and as such am banned for life or until it is paid. Lets see £50 plus 35 years interest thats £a lot I think I will stay retired.

I don't think Walton is very likely to jump over the fence and nut you sword. He's well capable of looking after himself, but has plenty of respect for supporters.
As for 'trusting you' when you say the owners don't give a damn about the supporters.
It gets a bit wearying having to respond to crazy posts moaning about Terry and Oliver. But Sword you are talking absolute bollocks !

But Sword you are talking absolute bollocks ! Wrong again Nick I reserve absolute bollocks for Tuesday's and Friday's. Monday is out of my arse day,Wednesday is garbage day and Thursday is off his f**king rocker day. Saturday and Sundays are a mixture of all three and some times all three at once. I am not going to change who or what I am it's to late for that I am just a depressed, disabled, alcoholic Maidstone fan who if anything cares too much about the club and i will still brave the agony of my various medical problems to continue watching them long after a lot of our 2000 faithful have deserted us.

Sword is absolutely bang on with his comments about how this current team show no passion nor effort week in week out, and Nick can say what he wants but after travelling to nearly all the away games this year as well as the home games there is never any sign of effort. I dont expect my team to win every game but what I do expect from them is that they put in 100% effort, but these last few weeks it,s got worse, and yes we all support the club but it hurts like hell to see players only interested in how much they earn without a care for all of us who pay damn good money to follow them, thats why I have said in the past weeks it would not hurt the owners to come forward an offer an apology to us all for having to tolerate this garbage. They need us to continue paying our money so its not too much to ask.

You really do have a bloated sense of self entitlement don't you. Have you never in your life fucked up without apologising? Somehow, given the tone of your posts on here I think it's highly unlikely.
