Telling me to f**k off isn’t either, staying silent about the homophobia and threats of violence is bottling it from saying what is right and what is wrong. Margate, every one is entitled to their views but you are doing so in a deliberately intimidating way (OK, we all do that, as banter, but I don't think you are bantering) with a very accusational tone (some of us can do that I agree, but yours is very dark) with evil proclamations (NONE of us on these threads should agree with that!) that should have you removed from this site. You are bordering on the unhinged - not because of your views, but by the way you are expressing them. Please stop, or go and see a shrink to help you stop. I have been told to do that for far, far less than your outrageous posts. Please just STOP. Look at the quotes of sword65. “Stick to their own kind” “Foist their sexuality” “The other two got what they deserved” “That will make three assaults” Who is the outrageous one?

How on earth did this happen to my poor, innocent, little thread?! Sorry JDL I thought I was making a valid point about trying to get more people through the gates at the Gallagher but I got hi-jacked by the Thanet Thickhead. I do have this unenviable knack of upsetting people who take everything I say out of context.

I think sword's contribution to the forum is great, but some of his comments are a bit strange and off the straight and narrow to the uninitiated. If our thanet friend had maintained his responses to a non abusive level then his posts would have been much more acceptable. Enough said on this distraction from the point of this thead.

Margate – I've also had concerns about some of the views expressed on this forum in other threads. There have been truly offensive comments in the past aimed at ‘foreigners’ and others. It’s not commonplace but it has happened. I don’t think the original comments made by sword65 in this thread about gay people – however odd, patronising or generalistic – were hateful. If anything they were a hamfisted attempt at the opposite.
Your comments on the other hand have been disgusting. To suggest someone should die soon, would not be mourned by their loved ones and, for no obvious reason, suggest they may have engaged in sexual assault is absolutely reprehensible. To say them to someone who has self-declared mental health issues only aggravates the unpleasantness of the comments.
Sword65 – the forum is also no place for what sound like serious threats of violence regardless of the provocation.

I apologise for wishing him dead and questioning the nature of the assaults he has admitted to.

Anyway, attendances. Dulwich Hamlet have sold out their cup game against Carlisle. Good for them, but why are we so concerned about their attendances. They will now have had 3 outstanding attendances to boost their average, but how many turned up when they played us on a Tuesday night. If I remember right it was about 1500 and 500 of those were us, so regardless of what people think, their day to day attendances aren't that great.

Anyway, attendances. Dulwich Hamlet have sold out their cup game against Carlisle. Hardly a surprise. And their capacity is only 3,000, so not difficult to sell out (although their current record attendance is mysteriously 3,104!). The old Champions Hill (pre- Sainsbury's) used to get crowds of 20,000+ back in the amateur days. They were the South London club - but it was Palace who chose to go profesional, and the rest is history. A sad irony - the lights at the old ground were bought from Palace when they upgraded.

I think the threat of losing the ground has helped increase demand. I also reckon being a friendly inclusive place encourages a few extra people along.
