The pleas to play academy lads and youth players in the first X1 is seriously questionable at £15 a match.
The youth teams typically attract maybe 50 to 100 spectators per match, which includes lots of family members.
As you can see them play for nothing at present (which I do from time to time), I don't quite get the point of paying hard cash.
The point is supporters can watch youth teams and academy lads anytime they like and the entertainment value is excellent
But throwing them into National League matches would be nuts and in nobody's interests.

I think youre missing the point Nick. They would become first teamers and worth paying to see because they might actually put a shift in.

Because Nick at the moment we are paying £15 plus a lot more for travel etc etc to watch a team that have no guts no determination an no principles. After this latest inept display not one of the management team have stepped forward to say sorry to those of us who travelled to watch them Saturday.

This is the ideal time to properly assess what we have and what we haven't used at the club. Academy players / systems, whatever we want. It's proper competitive matches unlike friendlies and gives John Still an early start for next season. Experiment away as far as I'm concerned now. What will be will be. Give ourselves the best possible headstart for next season for retention and recruitment The problem with this though is that the management will have to admit defeat in the attempt to keep us up and they cannot be seen to do that because the owners won't like it. The fact that the owners know we are going down doesn't matter the management cannot say they have given up until it is mathematically impossible. There is more chance of Harry Wheeler getting a stand named after him at the Gallagher than us staying up judging by the last two performances.

People think its embarrassing now, well it will be far worse if you put out the academy for the remaining 11 games.
Think about it we would be putting out kids who are mostly Kent League or Ryman South standard against the likes of Wrexham, Salford, Ebbsfleet, Harrogate, Eastleigh, Sutton etc....it would be a bloody massacre.
Also throwing kids in well before they are ready will do them more damage than good.

Trouble is, who do we play? Last game I saw was the one v Fylde, but by all accounts only Lewington, plus maybe Phillips, WDH and Cassidy have been doing anything since So who are on the fringes, not getting much of a look in? Richards? Swaine? McClellan?
That still only gets us up to seven, but was can at least now add Embrey and Turgott, which makes nine. Personally, would also add Romain and presumably JS/HH would play a couple of their recent signings, like Davis and or one of the Donnellans? Maybe, just maybe, the above might at least be able to make an effort, but on current form, they certainly aren't going to worry even the likes of Havant. What are the chances we'll finish the season having used over 60 different players?

Those to young to know Sue Ellen ask your parents.

There is also the possibility that younger lads would get injured more regularly. I kind of agree with the sentiment of playing them because it might be good experience, but that's only a "might". It could be a reverse of that.

Well if that's the case keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times because the final 11 games with this squad could be horrific. Wrexham away is a scary prospect if the players give up as soon as the game kicks off like yesterday.

Or as Steve says an 11 game horror show!

So either way these last 11 games are gonna be a right shit show.

Cows arse with a banjo? We couldn't hit a barn door with a cows arse.
