Perhaps the most worrying aspect of this season is that we have been getting steadily worse. Countless numbers of players and numerous caretaker and permanent managers and what has it all been about ? The descent into the abyss is accelerating. Our squad of players seems to get weaker and weaker, much worse than what we started the season with under Jay Saunders. The quality of football is the poorest we've seen for many seasons, the present team is totally out of depth in this league and producing performances that are seriously embarrassing.

Owners; Have their business model that keeps us in business and has got us into this league. Made a couple of bad choices for the correct reasons! Managers; We now have who we should have had after Jay, John Still has not become a bad manger over night.
Players; The buck stops here! These are not part time Bostik South players being asked to play above the level they are paid for, Margate did a couple of years back after their money ran out. This team is riddled with X league players, as high as league One in Muldoon, Cassidy, Turgott. League 2 in WDH. I believe Walton some how played Championship, I think!! We have a Palace keeper who is terrible, a Fulham centre back and many proven National league players like Wishart and Powell. Who was our best player yesterday...? The new lad from the Bostik South!! So what does this tell us..!? It tells us that you canβt just bring players in that look good on paper and expect to win! We need to find the best players for OUR team and situation. I believe John Still will do that in the Summer, but the rest of this season will be a reason to look at this seasonβs shirt in the future and cringe!! No one can make this team win, No one!!
I may show up for a few more games, but only because it an excuse to have a beer with my old man but not to cheer on this squad!

Why did we swap keepers ? Some sort of death wish? Or there's a far-Eastern syndicate that's just made a killing on a 5-0 win for Solihull... No, all the smart money would have been on 7-0 as so confidently predicted by the doom and gloom merchants on this forum.

We're a poor side, playing badly, 'unsettled' through injuries and the Trophy games and individually lacking confidence. Throw in playing away to a top, physical, side and against a very strong swirling wind in the first half and you get the result we saw.
Almost without exception the players are individually better than they're playing at the moment. Football is transitory and things will improve, just not necessarily this season.
Seen bad spells before and, should I live long enough, will undoubtedly see them again but personally I see no reason to change my attendance plans. As the Torquay manager is quoted as saying "nobody died".
Still at least 12 matches left this season to go to, although I may have to miss the Barnet game!

I keep hearing this but please tell me what club would keep a manager after only 6 wins in 36 league games?? I've asked this many times and no one will answer it because they know at any other club Jay would of been sacked long before he was here......so I don't get why so many are blaming the owners for doing something that every other club would of done. π¨βππ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπspaceman says it is Cos they iz Stoopid π¨βππ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπ Is Spaceman a Slade fan?

The "nobody died" quote is too glib, you may as well quote the one about "football isn't life and death, it's more important than that". I'm sure for most fans, the second one is closer to the truth. Nobody died when the club folded. And nobody died when I stood in the Bobby Moore and clapped the best West Ham side I've ever seen into relegation. But they were both two of the worst days of my life. True, it wasn't the death of a close friend or the news that you've got cancer, but to dismiss it so glibly is to deny the impact of the emotional connection many fans have with their clubs. We invest a ridiculous amount of hope and expectation into our club, many of us for a lifetime, some with little else to look forward to in their lives. We don't expect reciprocation, of course, but we DO expect, at the very least, that they care and they try.

Malcolm does like a bit of Slade but is going through the equivalent of the Parrott Yoof stage of his life indeed the legendary crochetist Maud Deveraux has warmed up for her big match on Saturday by crocheting him a special Hoodie.π¨βππ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπ yay innit!π¨βππ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπ

So HH has told KOL that we lost yesterday, because 'we weren't disciplined enough'. Does that mean it will be shorts down for a different type of spanking on Monday? A collective kick up the arse would not go amiss.

I was one of those who thought Jay should of gone but looking back it's now clear the one thing we always had with his teams was unity. They played for each other, the fans and the badge and that's why a lot of average players kept us in this league for 2 seasons. Although still losing games, it was generally by the odd goal here and there. Now that spirit has been ripped apart we are seeing 3-0, 5-0 and so on. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but for all if Jay's failings the one thing he always gave us was some passion and commitment from all his teams.

We are missing passion and commitment right now although HH is putting Saturday's result down to a lack of discipline defensively. In his interview he steered clear of the fact that we can't and never look like scoring goals. And as for our midfield ! No point any longer in constantly emphasising the negatives of individual and team performances What else is there to say ? It's hopeless, he knows it, we know it, the rest of the football world knows it.
